abi knew that she shouldn't be so invested in this man. really he was the first man that she had met since marco had died. she had made it a point not to go on dates. thinking that she was honoring her dead husband by still being faithful to him. but the longer that he was gone, the lonelier the was. hell, she didn't know how she was supposed to live the rest of her life without someone by her side. which was why she had taken a long shot and looked on the internet. and by some miracle she had found stark. and he was great. sure, he hadn't had the best life. he had done things that he wasn't proud of, but hadn't everyone. she wouldn't judge him for that. she would look at him as the person that he was now, the person that she was getting to know more and more as time went by. and she liked the person that he was. she liked him a lot.
a light chuckle came from her at his comment and she took another drink of her coffee. "well, i guess that means that i've got to bake you some cookies sometime since you're just another useless man and you can't do it yourself," she teased with that playful smile on her lips as she looked over at him. truth be told it had been so long since she had cooked for anyone beside herself, let alone baked. and she wouldn't pass up the opportunity to do it again. there were things that she had missed terribly about being married. being a house wife. part of that being cooking for her man and having a good dinner on the table when he got home. eating alone just lost it's appeal after a while, but at least she was determined to still cook her meals instead of just making something quick and easy or going to get fast food. "baking isn't that hard, but you should probably leave it to the professionals. marco tried to bake a cake for my birthday once, and almost burnt the house down," she recalled the memory with an easy chuckle eyes looking away from him for a moment.
her attention was turned back to the man across from her and she pushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear. he seemed to be uncomfortable in a way that caused her brows to knit, but she chose to not make a comment on it. instead just looking at him with that small smile on her face and forgiving eyes. "it's okay, stark. i understand that you have your own life. i can't expect you to be there whenever i need you just because i like to talk to you every day," she reassured him reaching over to touch his arm in a comforting way, the smile on her lips still all kinds of sweet. it was nice, sitting with him, talking to him in person for once. in a way that she almost knew it was going to be.
because stark was a simple man for her to be around. he made her feel safe in a way. like she could say or do anything and he would just accept her for who she was without question. that was probably the thing she loved about him best. she shrugged in regards to her sister letting out a small chuckle. "my sister is my sister. i love the girl, but that doesn't mean that i'm always a big fan of her. she's a bit controlling, and she loves to be in my business at all times," she informed him with another shrug. "but she's my sister, so i'm forced to love her." curious eyes turned to lock on his. "do you have any siblings?"

A soft laugh left his lips as she called him another useless man, she had no idea how correct he believed her to be with that statement. He really was just another completely useless man, the only skills he had was his drug dealing, something he sure as hell wouldn't be doing again any time soon. "Well if it makes me any less useless I would like to maybe be part of it and try to help? Though you may be right, I may just end up trying to burn the house down by accident." he said and chuckled. Really though, he needed to learn some new skills and why not start with baking cookies with this most wonderful woman? Yeah it seemed like the perfect place to start, and hell, who knew? It might end being fun. He could definitely do with a little bit of fun, his life had held little of the fun things regular people did.
A frown was allowed to cross his lips as she mentioned Marco, this really was a massive mess, he should probably just tell her who he was and let her slap him in the face. The thing was, this was the first good thing that had happened to him in a very long time and he really wasn't willing to give it up. For the first time in a long time he had moments where he felt completely happy. Most of the time these moments included spending time on the phone or online with Abigail. It had been a long time since he'd been as happy as he was right then, spending time with her, despite the fact that he was slowly starting to feel the effects of not taking a large enough dosage of drugs and the fact that he was completely and utterly starving. Nothing was better than the time he had with Abigail, and even if he felt about about the fact that she'd been Marco's wife, well the man was dead and he was sure he'd have wanted both of them to be happy. After all, him and Marco had gotten quite close in the time they had worked together.
Shaking his head a little he sent her a tiny smile. "No, I should have called, I like our daily calls as well. If I'd thought you were still awake by the time I got home I would have called no matter how late it was" alight so that might have been a slight white lie, since he'd been so desperate for drugs by the time he got home that the last thing on his mind had been to call her. That wasn't something he could or wanted to tell her though. His stomach chose that moment to make a very loud, very embarrassing and unwanted rumble. Great, now there was no way he was going to be able to claim he wasn't hungry, and then what was he going to say? That he couldn't even afford to buy himself anything to eat? That he hadn't really even been able to afford the coffee and the cookie? Fucking hell that hadn't been part of his plan, all he could do now was to hope that she wouldn't comment on it.
A dark shadow crossed his face as she asked about his family, or more specifically if he had any siblings, it was forced away rather quickly though. "I have a sister, her name is Jasmine. She's... 20 now I think. I haven't really seen her since I was fifteen. She was... nine." he said honestly, though he didn't seem happy about that, it was clearly one of the many things he regretted in life. "I don't even know what she's chosen to do with her life" he added with a slight sigh. "And I likely won't find out either" he shrugged a little and shook his head. "Oh well, it can't be helped, I just hope she's done better for herself than I have. it was the truth, but after all they didn't really have a habit of keeping secrets from each other, though he supposed there would be a difference in that now that he knew who she was. After all she likely wouldn't want anything to do with him if she knew the truth about him and Marco.

if abi were being honest, she would say that the idea of making cookies with stark actually sounded like fun. sure, she didn't expect him to be any sort of miracle worker in the kitchen, and the truth of the matter was that abi was very possessive of her role as the cook of her house. but just having him help, it sounded like a fun time. maybe just because it meant getting to spend more time with this man. maybe because she really liked him more than she knew that she should. no matter the reasoning, though, she was going to make sure that they did it some time. "well i'll be sure to be right there beside you so that if any fires do happen we can stop them before they become any sort of problem," she teased with a bit of a chuckle, that smile staying on her lips as she looked over at him. her teeth sunk into her bottom lip for a moment before she took a drink of her coffee.
now abi might not have been the most observant creature in the world, but she did notice the way that he frowned at the mention of her late husband. of course, it wasn't something that she often could talk about with a smile. she missed him more than words could ever say. and maybe, bringing him up on their first actual sort of date wasn't the best idea. but they'd talked about marco before. on many occasions they'd talked about him. openly, without any problems. because, she told stark about everything and while she knew that wasn't how most relationships started, people going on and on about their dead spouses, it was how theirs had started, and the girl didn't see much reason in avoiding the subject. though, the frown that moved onto his lips caused her own smile to fade slightly. even if it really was a happy memory instead of a sad one. "does...does me talking about marco bother you?" she asked reaching over to rest her hand over his and squeezing it lightly.
her own lips moved into a matching smile when the smile moved onto his lips and she shook her head slightly. "it's alright stark, really, it is. i mean, i know that sometimes life gets the better of you. don't beat yourself up about it okay?" she assured him squeezing his hand again. there was so much about stark that she still didn't know. so much that she was dying to know, but abi wasn't the sort of girl that would pry no matter how curious she was. when she heard the growl come from his stomach, though, her brow rose in a curious sort of fashion. "you sound like you're hungry," she commented with a sweet sort of smile on her lips. "if you'd like, you know, we could go back to my place. i wouldn't mind making something for us to eat. i'm sure that it would be a lot more satisfying than anything we could buy here." it was a simple suggestion. and maybe abi wanted to show off the fact that she was a good cook to him. after all, it was one of her talents.
she wasn't the most observant of creatures, but she could see that when she brought up his family a look that wasn't all too happy took over his sharp features if only for a moment. none the less she listened to him talk about his siblings, nodding slightly as he spoke. she bit her lip for a moment and squeezed his hand again. "you know, you could try to contact her. maybe it would help, i mean, it would be nice to know how your little sister is doing, right?"

A laugh left his lip as she teased him about making sure he didn't burn the kitchen down. "You know, that really wasn't meant as a joke, I'll probably end up burning the place down by accident if I'm let near the kitchen on my own. I'm not very good at making anything proper. I can do eggs and bacon and that's probably about it. Oh well and instant noodles of course. Those are alright as well." he laughed a little and shook his head at his own misery in the kitchen. He'd usually just bought things from a restaurant or to go when he'd still had his money from the drug industry, but that was behind him now. Getting a job wasn't easy though, especially since he couldn't get through a day without getting himself some drugs. Most people didn't hire druggies or previous criminals. It really was a struggle. He didn't know how many applications he'd sent out, but he knew he'd not gotten many answers, and the ones he had gotten were mostly just people telling him they didn't want to hire him. It was really just discouraging in the end.
It was obvious to him that he'd messed up the moment her smile faded and her hand reached out to squeeze his. He really didn't have problems with her talking about him. There never had been a problem with that before, it was just that now he'd realized just who her late husband was, it was hard for him not to feel guilty. "No Abi, it really doesn't bother me that you talk about him. You should talk about it. I don't know, maybe it makes me feel a bit guilty for being here instead of him now though?" he said with a small sigh. "I just don't want you to ever think I'm trying to take his place or anything" It wasn't the entire truth about what he felt, but it was part of it. He felt guilty for being there instead of Marco, he had since the crash, after all Marco had actually had a life, he'd not had one worth living. Part of it was also because he hadn't told her who he was the moment he'd realized who she was.
Another smile crossed his lips as she once more reassured him that it was alright he hadn't called her. "Yeah alright, but I'll still make more of an effort next time." he promised and squeezed her hand back a little. She really was making him feel better about at least that part of his day and his flaws. Once she commented on his rumbling stomach, his heart fell to the pit of his stomach for a moment as he worried that she might suggest they buy some food. Instead he found relief flooding him as she suggested they'd go back to her place and she could make them something. Really? She'd do that for them? Was the wonder that was this woman ever going to end? A bright smile appeared on his face and he squeezed her hand this time around. "Yeah, I'm a bit hungry, and that sounds like the best idea I've heard all day" he said honestly. Not that he wasn't worried about the lack of drugs that would likely lead to, since his hands were already shaking a little. Something she was bound to notice now she was holding his hand.
Slowly and hesitantly he let go of her hand and then got to his feet, moving over to offer her a hand up and a smile, however the smile faded as she said he could probably call his sister and find out how he was doing. All he could do for a small moment was shake his head, because honestly he figured there really wasn't much he could do about it. His family had gotten the message that he'd passed away after that crash, it was part of the new identity and the start of a new time. Everyone in his old one had to believe he was dead. It was what would keep the rest of them safe from his old.. friends.. Besides, as far as he was concerned they were happier not having to deal with the failure of a son and brother. "Yeah it would be nice to know if she's doing alright or not, but it really isn't an option. They all think I'm dead and they're better off that way." it was one of the more harsh truths he'd told her about his life, and something new. Honestly he was a little worried about what she might say to that.
