[li]George Blair. George is Gatsby’s father. He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and had two older sisters, Grace and Gina. His parents owned a restaurant together, and that’s where the siblings spent a majority of their time, and got jobs there when they were old enough. It was there that he met Regina. She was a freshman at the art institution, and he was a sophomore in community college, waiting tables at his parent’s restaurant. The two hit it off, and he invited her out after his shift was finished. After that, Regina started making more and more appearances at the restaurant, and the two were soon a serious couple. Two years later, they were married, and six months after that, they were pregnant with Grayson. George had just been hired to work at a hotel when his son was born. George worked his way up in the hotel, becoming assistant manager, then manager, and eventually bought the hotel, bringing the Blair’s up a little bit in the world. Before he’d become owner, though, Gatsby was born. George took his kids out all the time when he wasn’t working. He took them to the lake, on miniature road trips, anything you could think of. Regina loved that George spent so much time with the kids, because it meant that she could spend more time on her paintings. She seemed to love the paintings more than anything, but George looked the other way at that fact. Three days before Gatsby’s twelfth birthday, Regina left. The kids came home from school to find a note on the kitchen counter, saying that she wasn’t cut out for the domestic lifestyle and had gone to pursue her dreams.
[/li][li]Grayson Blair. Grayson is three years older than Gatsby, but the siblings grew to be extremely close, especially after their mother left. He was always protective of his little sister, but not overbearing as some brothers could be. Grayson and Gatsby shared their compassion for others, their passion in whatever they were doing, and their love of black and white movies (although Grayson would never admit that to his friends.) In high school, he was the baseball star, and Gatsby soon got used to being known as “Gray’s little sister.” But, she didn’t mind it. He went to college in New York on a baseball scholarship and studied business. After graduation, he moved to Maryland and has been there ever since.
[/li][li]Fletcher Simms. For two years, Gatsby was Gatsby Alessandra Simms. She went down south for college, and met him there. Instantly, he took her breath away. Fletcher was smart, funny, charming, and pursuing a degree in architecture. It didn’t take Gatsby long to fall for him. The two seemed like a perfect couple. They were both charismatic and attractive, they had a good group of friends, they just had it all together. So eight months after they started dating and he proposed, Gatsby didn’t think twice about saying yes. The two got married about a month after graduation and moved to New Haven where Fletcher got an internship at an architectural firm and Gatsby was offered a teaching position. The couple had never been happier. They settled into the town nicely, found it easy to jump straight into their new jobs, and loved every second of it. But after about a year of marriage, things got difficult. The young couple started arguing more and more often, and Fletcher would often end up storming out of their house, sometimes not returning for the night. Gatsby didn’t know where he was spending all his time until she found him one night, at his office, banging his secretary. Gatsby was devastated. Her mother had left her, and now she was losing her husband. Fletcher said they could work things out, but Gatsby filed for divorce. She wanted to leave New Haven, but couldn’t bear to leave her job. So, they’d sold the house that they’d shared, and she’d bought her own apartment. [/li][/ul]
[li]She has a hard time trusting people.
[/li][li]She tends to rush into things (like her marriage.)
[/li][li]She’ll do anything to protect her father and brother, although they seem to always be protecting her.
[/li][li]Being a kindergarten teacher is a dream come true for her.
[/li][li]She wishes that Fletcher would beg for her forgiveness, but is afraid that she would take him back in a heartbeat.
[/li][li]She has a soft spot for animals and children.
[/li][li]She’s awful at sports.
[/li][li]She believes that rainy days were made for hot chocolate and black and white movies.
[/li][li]She’s read The Great Gatsby at least a dozen times.[/li][/ul]
