Growing up, her family home had been in Hartford but the second she turned 18 she had wanted to put a little space between her family and he, she wanted to get a little Independence even if her condo was being paid for from daddy's bank account. Unlike a lot of the rich girls Harry had grown up with, the young woman wanted to be independent, she had always had her father's determination and though she wasn't too proud to rely on her families money she didn't take it for granted or, as her British born father so crudely said 'take the piss'. Now that she had a decent job she had taken on the responsibly of her own rent and paid her own bills, something her older brother looked like he would never do. Independence wasn't on the top of his priority list. From where Harriet was, her older brother was and always would be the child of the two, Harriet had matured above him somewhere around her 10Th birthday because that was the age she would pin to her brothers pointless lifestyle of a pointless degree that he would never use, like his previous one, and the way he went and wasted all of his time lolling about in his dorm, drinking and smoking and eating junk food. Harriet's life was the polar opposite to her lazy brothers, she lived a none stop life not content with just a gleaming career she had to have her fun too, her saviors in life was caffeine and there was no way she could have survived without it. Not that it was healthy to replace sleep with copious amounts of caffeine but it was a bad cycle she had gotten herself into and it was the only way she fit everything she wanted to into a day. That said, she had taken a days break for her crazy life, she was off work for the day and she had no plans to hit the town that night, she called these days her 'reboot' days. Her body clock was never her friend on these days and she never managed to stay in bed later than 9am (a considerable lie in compared to her usual 6am start) she tidied her place, went and took her Yorkshire terrier for a walk, checked her emails and then sat on the couch and flicked through the crap that was on TV. By 1pm she was bored out of her mind. She hated solitude and she hated just sitting around. So she did the only thing she could think to do. Text someone she was pretty sure would come to her rescue. 'Hey you! So, you know because you love me and because you have nothing better to do with your day? You should come to mine, I have a day off and nothing to do with it. Pleaaase...' was the message she typed into her iphone before she hit send and the message went off to her friend and regular hookup buddy Mason. Many people may have seen Harry's casual outlook on sex trashy but the girl was anything but, sure she wasn't big on relationship and yes she slept around but that wasn't because she was a slut, she was far too busy for a complicated relationship and the way she saw it, why should she settle down, she was only young and it would only end in tears because she knew her job would always come before any man. It was set for tears and pain before anything ever started. That was why things with Mason were perfect, they got along really well, they made each other laugh, he got her sense of humor, would listen to her complain about work, they went the movies together and hung out but there was no pressure to be anything to each other no commitment, no expectations to be even a little romantic, no silent agreement to see each other or talk everyday. It wasn't the social accepted relationship but it worked for them. Hope this is ok (: |
