MAKE OUT LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENEDAND WE WERE NOTHING It was weird, looking back just two year and looking at how much everything had changed. Two years earlier Elliot's life had been as close to perfect as she had ever dreamed, she loved her husband, she had a beautiful son, a great house and job, she was happy, completely content with her life and had nothing, not even a tiny thing that she would have changed. And then there was no, she was a stanger to herself, had no idea what she was doing and sliding down a slope that could potentially lead her to divorce number 2. I wasn't that mark was a bad man, quite the contrary, he was sweet, kind, loved her as much as anyone could but the basics was that she wasn't happy, the basics were that no matter how amazing a man he was, he wasn't Riley.
It had taken her a while, to figure out why things weren't right with her and Mark. Why there always seemed to be a distance between them, at first she had convinced herself that it was just her grief for her sun pushing him away, then the fact that she had jumped into a marriage so soon after her first fell apart but as time went on, the only honest reason she could see was that she couldn't get Riley off her mind and she couldn't stop wishing that Mark was him. She'd been doing her best to fight it, pretend the feelings weren't there but the cracks were getting clearer and clearer so that both of them were finding it impossible to ignore. They had been arguing a lot recently, so much so that he had extended his business trip simply so he could stay away from her for a while to 'clear his head'.
While her current husband was on the other side of the country supposedly 'clearing his head' Ell had made her own bold move. One that she was afraid she might regret. She'd been talking herself up and down from the idea all day but when the time finally came, she stood outside of her Ex-husbands practice, still daring herself to go in or not. She was snapped out of her thoughts at the sound of the bell on the door as a woman walked out and past her. She was here now, she wanted to do this. She walked in, spoke to the receptionist who was thankfully new and didn't know her before taking a seat. She had made sure she was the last appointment in, she didn't want her time with him cut short because he had another patient to see. "he's ready for you know, if you would like to go in"
[/i] the woman behind the counter announced to Elliot, or so she assumed since she was the only person sat waiting. Elliot eyed the door for a moment, this was her last chance to back out but the draw to his door was much stronger than the one to the exit so she stood, gave a nod the the receptionist before reaching for the door handle that belonged to Riley's room and slowly let herself in, the door closed behind her and she stood by it, just looking at him now frozen. He hadn't changed, he was still as handsome as ever but now he had that look that she constantly carried in her eyes, the one that oozed how much pain and hurt was hidden behind them. "Hi" was all she said, quietly, only a little louder than a whisper. [/color][/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #000000, width: 300px; height: 300px;] suppose I kept on singing love songs just to break my own fall it was almost amazing to riley how his days started to blend together. there was now beginning or end it seemed. just one day flowing into another with little to no sleep during the night because he was quite possibly trying to work himself to the bone. between his actual job where he sat for sometimes ten hours a day helping people through their problems, and then the several hours after work that he would spend renovating the house, there wasn't a lot of time for things like sleep. riley knew better than anyone that it wasn't healthy. that working like this was only going to end up bringing him to some breaking point that he wouldn't be able to stop no matter how much he wanted to.
but really, what did he have in his world anymore? he had his job, that part of him still loved. even though when it came to some patients he had gotten to the point where he felt like they didn't have much of a reason to be bitching about anything. he had lost more, and he still hadn't gotten help for it. a shrink who needed a shrink. but wasn't that the general denominator when it came to the human race now a days. everyone was fucked up in one way or another, everyone had their problems. he was just the stupid son of a bitch who had decided that he wanted to make a living by fixing other people's issues while his own just sat there festering like an untreated wound. but really, what did he care? there was only so much that one man could do on his own. and lord knew that marty wasn't much help. caustic ass hole that he was. he was something though, someone, just another person around him with a laundry list of problems that he didn't want to work through.
a sigh left the man as blues shifted up to the clock. the day was almost over. it would be over if he hadn't had a new patient coming in for a meet and greet. one more hour of dealing with one more person then he would be able to go home to that dump that he lived in and try to fix it up more. just one more hour in which he would have to figure out what it was was wrong with this one and find some sort of starting point. eyes moved off the clock down to the name on his schedule. it seemed so familiar. and really, there was little information for him to go off of so he was heading into this blind. the man chewed his cheek before letting his receptionist know that he could let the person in.
from the moment that she walked in the room he knew exactly why the name had seemed familiar. and it took the man a couple seconds of just staring before his brain started to function again. there stood his ex-wife. the one person that in two years hadn't been there. after the divorce was final they hadn't talked. he knew that she had gotten remarried. moved on with her life if one wanted to call it that. and all he could do, was stare, in disbelief that the person standing there was actually the one woman he never expected to see again.
the silence hung in the air heavy for several moments as he composed himself before he sat back in his chair letting out a small disbelieving laugh. "elliot," he started and then ran his fingers through his hair his brows forming a fine knot at the bridge of his nose. "what are you doing here?" which really, was the question of the century.
