there was not a soul in the world who could make devan ross admit that starbucks was overrated. oh, they tried - they showed him how they overpriced their coffee, how it wasn't as good compared to local or home brewed, talked about how their music selection was oftentimes sub-par. they tried to tell him that he'd be much better off saving money by going to local coffeeshop where the employees, atmosphere, and beverages were all a lot nicer than at the famous coffee house. but he would never listen. no, devan had a certain love for starbucks, a love only rivaled by his crazy insane obsession with jason mraz and maybe animal planet. he loved everything about the place, from its amazing coffee to the music they sold that quite frankly he liked. he loved the holiday treats and the food and the coffee and even the stuff that didn't have caffeine in it. whenever he wasn't working at a desk to finish up an article, he liked to take his laptop into the coffee house and work on his writing there. the place just inspired him - all the smells and the sounds. it was familiar. it was lovely. every time he walked into the place, it was like falling in love.
okay maybe that was a little bit of an exaggeration. but he did love the place - the coffee, the atmosphere, the employees. honestly between all the time he spent there growing up and between jobs, it was always a wonder when there was an employee behind the counter that he didn't recognize. he was devan ross, starbucks regular, after all. newbies learned to know that after a little while. some people thought it was insane, driving about a half an hour for a cup of coffee. but honestly, to him, it was more than that. it wasn't just a cup of coffee; it was an experience. he would sound crazy to anybody who asked him but starbucks had never provided him with anything but excellent service that got his mind whirring with ideas. he wrote some of his best articles while sitting in one of their chairs, sipping a cup of their coffee, and eating one of their bagels (toasted with cream cheese of course). something about it just...stirred up his creativity. he couldn't explain it. it was just something someone had to experience.
so that's how he found himself sitting in the starbucks in new haven, peppermint mocha and jalapeno bagel by his side, laptop in front of him as he type-type-typed away on a new article about a survey the company had done on the recent laws in congress and the senate about internet censorship for copyright protection. it seemed that most readers were against it - not surprising as it was an extremely stupid idea, in devan's opinion, though he tried to brush that off as he wrote the article. after all, journalism was all about objectivity and though it was impossible to get a completely unbiased article, he honestly tried his best to just relay the facts instead of putting his own opinions into it. he finished typing up a paragraph about how one insistent reader had written in to talk about how the united states shouldn't use communist ideals in the name of democracy when he decided to take a break. he stretched, took a sip of his coffee, and looked around the joint, humming quietly along with the christmas music playing overhead. yeah, it was a productive day. a perfect day to be in starbucks.
yeah basically this is tagged for kaitlyn/savanna and i'm really stoked to be doing this. sorry it's so short, i'm a little bit tired still, haha. |

It was a very busy morning for miss perez over here. She was cramming for her finals in class and she needed to do well in them, because frankly she wasn't doing well in the classes. Sav considered getting a tutor and then she thought that it just might be better to bang her teachers, hell she was a hot girl who wouldn't say yes to her? As of now, her professor dismissed his class and Savanna put her books and notebooks into her bag and she got up and walked out of the room. She checked her phone and it had nothing new that needed her attention right then. Actually she was kind of pissed that her phone was being awfully quiet today. She was so used to being the center of attention that the few hours of not getting talked to actually annoyed her. She loved having all eyes on her, and she would basically go to any lengths to get people to notice and pay attention to her.
Sav walked out of the building and down to the parking lot where her car sat. She looked at the time on her phone once more and she noticed that she had about two hours to kill before her next class. She sighed with an annoyed tone to it. She was so tired of school and her exams, she wasn't prepared and she knew that she was going to fail anyways so why try. And then she heard her older brothers voice come into her head and tell her that that was no way to think and she at least needs to put forth some effort. savanna rolled her eyes as she approached her car, got in and drove off.
It was about fifteen minutes later before she pulled up to the starbucks in town. She planned on getting a coffee and throwing some studying in there as well. She walked in and was greeted by a 'welcome to starbucks slogan that the workers needed to say every time someone walked in the place. Savanna would hate that, to have the same routine all day everyday would slowly kill savanna. Sav ordered her drink, payed and then took her drink and walked over to one of the tables. As she walked, she noticed a guy on his computer, she knew exactly who he was. fucking great she said to herself in her head. As savanna walked past him she looked over, "Ross." was all she said to him. She then found herself a table and she placed her bag on it and pulled out her books and paper. She sat back in her chair and took a sip from her frapp as she looked over to her ex boyfriend, the same ex boyfriend who dumped her because his brother thought it would be best for him. 'stupid family.' she thought to herself again. Savanna didn't make her looking at his discrete and she didn't care if he noticed her sitting there or not.
ooc: sorry its crud, my starting posts usually are.

devan's head lifted when he heard his name. well, his last name, which actually could be somebody's first name but as he was fairly certain nobody named ross was actually working that day and he seemed to be the only other guy in the shop, it was more than likely his last name that was being said. especially since it was being said by a voice that he found to be highly familiar and when he raised his head to see who had spoken to him, he found out why. savanna. to say he didn't feel bad about how their relationship ended would be a complete lie. sure, looking back, he thought that asher had a point - he had been head over heels for a girl who pretty much used him to promote her own ego and he let her walk all over him until he was flat on the ground, trampled flat by savanna perez's high horse. but when the actual relationship had been established, he hadn't felt the least bit used or abused. he had just been happy - happy to have someone to dote on, happy to have someone to occupy his time, happy to have someone who seemed to want to be around him and occupy his time and be in his company. honestly, he had shared so much with his twin in his life (sometimes even girls which was awkward) that it was always a breath of fresh air when he had something that was blatantly and obviously his. like sav.
but like most other things in his life, he had dumped her for his brother. he loved asher, loved asher more than anything, and though devan was a huge pushover for his friends, it was nothing like how he was for ash. sure, they fought and they argued and they constantly nagged one another but at the end of the day, devan knew that he'd drop even the current girl he was interested in on her ass if asher was in a situation that he needed devan to get him out of. it was just the way the whole twin thing worked. they were two distinctly different people but dev couldn't hate him for it if he tried. which is why he didn't resent him for having him dump savanna. which is why he still had asher by his side most of the time and not her. it sucked and he felt horrible about it, but to him, family would always come first. asher and aubrey were his first priorities. everyone else, even girls, came second.
he had tried to make it right with sav, though, he wasn't going to deny that. he was nice every time he saw her - sweet, almost doting, but he was like that with everyone. he just tried to treat her like every other friend. wasn't that what exes were supposed to do when they said they still wanted to be friends? weren't they supposed to act cordial? so despite her cold tone and - he shuddered as he looked up to see her staring - cold demeanor, he gave her a bright smile and said, "savvy, hey. it's been a while." a long while. and for good reason. he didn't like confrontation much and if she was still bitter about the breakup, the best way to get in the middle of something would be to talk to her. but she had acknowledged him - he couldn't let that opportunity pass. "a long while, actually." he bit down on his lip. now what? "how have you been?"
yeah basically this is tagged for kaitlyn/savanna and i'm really stoked to be doing this. it's fine, my posts can be short and awful sometimes haha. like today. |
