[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #EEEEEE, border: #59b1ba 5px solid; width: 400px; height: 500px;] hey there. the name's Rhett Aloysius Butler ! i go by Rhett if you were wondering. also i'll have you know that i am twenty three & loving it. oh. you've heard that I'm straight? & that I'm from Napa, California? well the rumors are true for once. well I gotta get going, the world is calling. see ya'! bee tee dubs, i'm a citizen. . history, Let’s take a look into the fabulous world of Rhett Aloysius Butler, shall we? And yes, my friends, that really is his name. Rhett is the oldest of the Butler children and possibly the one with the most unique name. Coming from a family of wealth and prosperity, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise to find that Aloysius is a name that has been passed down to the oldest Butler son from generation to generation, alternating between a first or middle name. Obviously, Rhett here was lucky enough for it to be his middle name and not first, which also gave his mother free range for naming her son after a character from her favorite book, Gone With The Wind. Being the oldest son of the family meant that from the moment he was old enough to understand speech, Rhett was being taught how to act as a gentlemen and the heir to his family vineyard. And unfortunately, that meant that a great deal of Rhett’s childhood was spent away from his parents. Being the busy people they were, the Butler’s often found it more convenient to leave Rhett and his younger brother Percy at home with a highly skilled nanny who would teach them proper manners and basically double as a charm school instructor. Percy, being the naturally fluid and cordial boy that he was, never minded much. Though he was two years Rhett’s junior, it was always evident that his maturity far surpassed his older brothers. To put it simply, Rhett as a child was never exactly dedicated to being an heir. Even less when Percy started to show signs of being a better heir than he was anyhow. That realization was the beginning of the end for the two of them. You see, while Rhett was constantly being scolded by his nanny and (whenever they arrived home from their weeklong trips) his parents, Percy was studying up on his brothers mistakes and using them to his advantage. With each mistake that Rhett would make, Percy would flutter his little lashes and in turn do everything right the Rhett had done wrong. Needless to say, Rhett could easily see the truth behind Percy’s perfection and he was not pleased. The two constantly fought each other, at first over small things but eventually over who was the rightful owner of the spot of the heir of the vineyard. True, though Rhett had originally given up on the idea of ever amounting enough to fit the roll, his brother’s constant pushing him from it made him want it that much more. After all, Rhett had never been one to shut up and accept when someone told him he couldn’t do something. Unfortunately, when Rhett was sixteen he didn’t have to worry about the fighting anymore. His parents had continued to stay out late for their parties and continued travelling the world to promote the vineyard, generally taking a very passive roll in the lives of their children. They weren’t even around for Rhett’s sixteenth birthday or for him to get his licensee. However, they still had some authority over their sons and made it known to Rhett that he would act as a chauffeur for Percy to remind himself that no matter how fortunate the outcomes of his life may have been, sometimes other people had it not as good and he needed to take that into consideration by acting as a sort of servant to his brother. Of course, there was quite the argument against it but eventually Rhett caved in and agreed to drive his brother around if it might by some chance enhance his character. But naturally, all it did was induce more and more fighting amongst the brothers Butler. And, it was exactly that fighting that changed things forever. On a hot, summer Sunday, Percy requested his brother take him across town to a museum to meet a girl and then drive them around for the day. Reluctantly, Rhett agreed knowing not that it would be the last time he would have to do anything for Percy. The boys loaded into the car and before they were halfway to the museum, they were arguing about their father’s business…again. As always, the argument got heated and eventually ended up consuming a lot of the concentration from Rhett that should have been used for driving. As the fighting continued, Rhett found himself running a red light and having to swerve out of the way of oncoming traffic. He was left panting and terrified but luckily, both boys were fine and their car suffered no damage. At least, not right then. Just when they thought they were safe, another car came screaming along, horn blaring and breaks screeching, and hit the Butler boys car dead on the passenger side, killing Percy instantly. The guilt that Rhett felt was unimaginable. Though he had always slightly resented his brother, he had never wanted him dead. He had only wanted him to go away and leave him alone or just to be a nice guy! Unfortunately, that was not at all believable to his parents. They hadn’t been a large part of their son’s lives but they knew well enough that Percy and Rhett never got along and to them, this accident was Rhett’s way of getting rid of his competition. And there was only one solution for that type of betrayal. Shortly after Percy’s funeral, Rhett was (in a way) disconnected from his parents and sent to live with his grandparents in Georgia, away from all the money and privileges he had grown up with. There, he was expected to truly learn the meaning of being a man while he worked on his grandparents farm. For the next two years, Rhett Butler was a slave to his mother’s family and their farm. Needless to say, Rhett fought tooth and nail to gain his freedom and leave so he could forget about his troubles. He didn’t want to work on a farm and he didn’t want to think about Percy or his parents or wine or vineyards or character building. But he hadn’t much a choice in the matter and with that, Rhett made the decision to stay and possibly try to find himself a new personality through all what was to come. And by some miracle, it actually worked. Rhett found himself to be a hard worker and even found that he had a way with the ladies. Everything about his spoiled past started morphing, even his looks. Instead of the pasty pale boy with the messy hair and bad attitude, Rhett transformed into the chiseled, tan young man who could pull off both the scruffy and clean shaven look. And though his hay carting and pig tending life was much less glamorous than the one he left behind, Rhett sort of started to be thankful for it. And little did he know that his grandparents had been reporting back to California about the improvements in his character to the Butlers. It wasn’t until he was eighteen that things, once again changed drastically for Rhett. After hearing about the improvements in their son, Mr. And Mrs. Butler found themselves missing their only left son. After hearing about all of his accomplishments, they had decided that it was time for Rhett to return home and carry on the position he had been born to carry on. and naturally, Rhett was hesitant. After all, they had turned their backs on him and accused him of murdering his only brother. But as much as he had grown to like Georgia, he knew that he couldn't pass up an opportunity to be back where he truly belonged. So shortly after his eighteenth birthday, Rhett packed his bags and moved back to California, ready to reclaim the life he had once lived...only this time in style. What his parents failed to tell him was that they had a slight alterior motive for asking him to move back in. Apparently, the vineyard had been doing a glorious job at producing all of the wine but unfortunately, it had been doing too good a job. The land they harvested the grapes on was starting to dry out and with Napa being occupied fully by other people interested in the same business, the Butlers were running short on time and money to find a new land for their new vineyard. Naturally, it would have been an easy fix if they had gone out and about and looked but it also seemed that Mr. Butler was unallowed to do much traveling for he had contracted an illness that was slowly breaking his immune system down and down and down. What the illness was, the doctors couldn't exactly say. All they did know was that it would continue to attack his immune system until eventually, he couldn't fight it at all and it would take his life. Now, you would think that might be some vital information for a boy 18 years old who had been away for two years and therefor, was slightly less informed than he should have been about business matters that would soon be falling right into his lap. It was too late for Rhett to do a thing when the illness finally took his father just a year later and you can bet that he was scared to death when the responsibility of taking over the vineyard and wine company fell on his plate. But this was a new Rhett Aloysius Butler. A new Rhett who would not run from this problem and not cry about how he didn't want it. This Rhett was ready to step up to the plate and enforce the manhood he had earned in Georgia. And that's exactly what he's been doing ever since. It's been a hard struggle and a lot of learning along the way but Rhett has managed to turn the business into a success again, finding new land to grow on and maintaining the business while his mother sits idly by. However, he's a grown man now and his business edge has slightly gotten to him. No, Rhett's not the spoiled brat he once was but he's not entirely the southern gentleman he learned to be in Georgia either. He's somewhere in between and he's personality, Now, we all know that as a younger, less matured version of himself, Rhett was a little princess who couldn't take the heat of being the future owner of a successful vineyard and wine country. However, the Rhett we know today is not quite so. He's grown, matured and become quite the ladies man actually. Through charm, wit and sophistication, Rhett has discovered that he has the ability to seduce any woman he pleases and have them be his for as long as he desires. Yes, I'm aware that saying he's a bit of a womanizer is probably not the best first quality to list but as it stands, it's one of his most prominent ones. Due to lack of healthy relationships with his sibling and parents for the better part of his life, Rhett never truly understood how a functional relationship was supposed to work and therefor, has yet to have one. But let's not mistake him for some scummy slimeball who treats women like garbage. No no no, that would be a false statement completely. Rhett is a gentleman fully. A...Don Juan if you will. He believes that women are a treasure to be fought for and he believes that once you are lucky enough to have them, you should treat them as if they were going to fade away if they weren't given the attention they needed. Rhett respects women for all of the lovely things they bring to the world and he does engage in actual romances with them; he takes them to lovely dinners, buys them flowers and jewelry and makes them feel the world is there's if they want it. unfortunately, his one flaw in all of this is that commitment makes him run and cower. He will whisper sweet nothings in a girls ear any day of the week but once those three small words show up, Rhett can't stick around. L-o-v-e is not something he's too familiar with. Aside from his many romances and his charming ways, Rhett is a very laid back individual. With business doing so well for him, he prefers not to stress out about many things and usually ends up just completely disregarding anything that he believes might cause him to be stressed out. Generally, this means that Rhett is a decent person to hang out with. He has become a master at keeping himself and others distracted from troubling thoughts and any method he comes up with is completely legal and safe; he doesn't meddle with drugs or tobacco. And really, that's not his only good friend quality. Rhett actually tends to be very good at giving advice. With all of his past troubles he knows plenty of dire situations and has grown from them, giving him the strength to reach out to others in their time of need. He's generally a helpful person in reality. He sees a person in need and will never hesitate to stop and help them out if he sees need be. However, not everyone can be a squeaky clean, perfect person who woos the women and helps the blind see. No one is Jesus. And Rhett is no different. He's laid back in almost every situation, handling things with ease and usually avoiding stress. But when he can't avoid the stress or he's faced with a confrontation he's not prepared for (and truly, Rhett never prepares himself for anything) then the sparks begin to fly. And by sparks I mean, well possibly anything. Getting right to the point here, Rhett has a bit of a temper. He's not violent. He doesn't want anyone to be harmed but on those rare moments when the world is breaking down on him --or even someone or something is threatening to harm someone he cares about (mostly his mother but eventually Scarlett)-- then the metaphorical shit hits the metaphorical fan and Rhett is a loose canon. He yells and throws things and slams doors and isolates himself for a few hours until he calms down and feels that horrible guilty pang in his stomach. Yes, Rhett has a very nagging conscience. He tends to do what he usually feels is right but when he has an outburst or runs from yet another relationship, the guilt takes little to no time to settle in. And it's sort of unusual, because due to his social class and well known family name, people assume that he's an uptight jerk who flaunts his money around like a beauty queen. However, really truly getting to know him is a completely different experience altogether. Rhett is daring at times, more wanting to take other people on adventures to open their eyes to the world rather than to satisfy his own adventurous needs but he's also a very relaxed person. to say it has nothing to do with his past would be a lie. but in the end Rhett knows he's actually a good guy he just has a bit of a problem with commitment and rare stress. However, he's happy (for the most part) with himself and he thanks whatever holy spirit is watching over him almost daily for giving him the ability to not be as shallow as he could be. Besides, that celebrity nonsense is for ninnies and Rhett is not a ninny. appearance, What is a Casanova without his dashing debonair? As stated before, Rhett is not a celebrity and he doesn't want to pull out all the stops just so that people will break their necks when they do a double take to see what he's wearing, but Rhett wouldn't be caught dead wearing anything that didn't make him look just wonderful. Rhett can rock a pair of jeans and t-shirt like a rockstar, and on his daily outings, he does (never forgetting the shades) but the truth of the matter is that Rhett enjoys dressing up and as comfortable as he may be in something like a normal pair of jeans and t-shirt that is just tight enough but also loosely fitting that it teases and hints at his rockin' body (that he works on four days a week for three or more house each day), he is always more comfortable in his slacks and button down. He's like a regular Barney Stinson in the wardrobe department. He dresses to impress, not only others but himself as well because as the saying goes "others can't accept you until you accept yourself" and Rhett just doesn't see that happening if he looks badly. So maybe it seems a bit vain, but really, its all out of feeling good about himself and who doesn't want to feel good about themselves? the roleplayer, I would love to fill this out again....but not really (: Catch Jo's app for info on moi or even my little intro on the member intro boards. |
