[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: d3d3d3; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]wretched, look at me, i've lost it melting on the table, in parking lots and markets. every student reached a point where they were done with dorm living. and franny honestly could've lived in a dorm for the rest of her life, but hell, she wanted something new. maybe part of it was because she had a feeling that her roommates were getting tired of dealing with her, or maybe a big part of it was that franny was just one of those girls that didn't like to be in one place for two long. she wasn't about to pack up and leave the state, she was working on her education and all that, but hell if she wasn't going to see what else was out there as far as places to live went. a new home, new roommates, it was just what she needed. there was no way in hell that she was going to live alone. she'd never done well living alone, she always got too bored and ended up going over and bothering her friends at all hours of the day and night. so, it was off to start a new part of her life. find a new place to live.
craigslist, was really a great thing. it had to be one of her favorite things in the world. sometimes just to look over the personals and laugh, other times she could thank the website for finding her job at the arcade. probably the only job that could keep her really happy for a long time. during her down time she was able to play the games and just have a good time and all that shit. so she had craigslist to thank for entertainment and her job. then there was of course, looking for a new place to live, which was what she was doing right then. there were always the most interesting people on the shared living page. finding the ones that she wanted to actually live with, though, that was the hard part. she needed someone that she was going to be able to have fun with. someone that could handle her more than anything. that was not as simple of a task as one might think.
after several hours of searching she found some people that might be promising. two brothers that rented out room in their house. she couldn't be bothered about it being far from her work or school, and they seemed to be really awesome. there was some kind of disclaimer regarding one of the boys that lived there and if she was going to be honest greg seemed like he was going to be lots and lots of fun. that was all that franny really wanted to do in life, was have fun. laugh. all that good shit. she hated being serious. and if she would end up living with someone that loved to laugh as much as she did, well, that had to be a good place to live. and she really wanted to find a good place to live.
franny talked to james who was pretty much the head of the household and then made plans to meet up to see the house and the room that would be called her own. she was more excited than she had been in a long time. so excited that she might actually be on time to meet up with the brothers that might end up being her roommates. she was giddy, bouncing off the walls pretty much, as she got dressed and did her makeup. it didn't take very long before she was out the door and onto her skateboard making her way towards the address after taking the bus to new haven. only a stupid person would give franny a driver's license after all, so she did most of her traveling on the skateboard or public transit. she kicked up her board once at the house and set it down on the porch and then balled one of her fists and knocked on the door. thus far, she loved the house, and could only hope that she loved the rest of what was included in it.

"and what do we do when someone knocks on the door and i'm not home?" "open it. invite them in for water. don't sleep with them." "right. i'm counting on you, kiddo. i will be right back."
greg was replaying the conversation over and over and over again in his mind. james had left him to go out and buy some toilet paper and milk (two things that for some reason they were always in constant need of and greg couldn't figure out why for the life of him seeing as he couldn't even use those two things together for a practical joke without thinking about it first and he didn't like thinking). and with james out of the house and the two of them expecting company, that meant greg was in charge of getting the door and the last time greg had been in charge of getting the door, he had ended up having sex in the doorway. without closing the door. and they got the police called and james was very, very upset with him and though that jehovah's witness was surprisingly very limber it just wasn't worth it to see the disappointed look on his brother's face as he had to talk the police out of charging either one of them.
so he was really going to focus. he was going to do it this time. it would help that francis or whatever her name was was a girl because regardless of what james said about greg having sex with anything that walked, it was always worse when that person happened to be a very cute boy because greg really liked really cute boys and sometimes when they were around his brain just got all fuzzy and he forgot what james said and then they got into a huge pickle because bad things happened. but girls didn't do that funny thing to his head so he was more likely to listen to his brother. which was good. because the police man had said that next time he wasn't going to be so forgiving and james could only get greg out of sticky situations for so long and greg didn't want to be a sex offender. it tended to put a dampener on sex lives and he liked his sex life the way it was. active.
so he sat on the couch and thought through every possible scenario and how he would tell this francis that no, you have the name of a badger in a book i read as a child and we will NOT have sex thank you very much! and then he would invite her in for tea and crumpets only he didn't have any tea or crumpets. actually he didn't even know what a crumpet was. so he'd really just invite her in for some water and show her the living room even though he didn't understand why because if she wanted to see the living room so dang badly she could go in there herself and jump on the couch cushions and then james could yell at HER for making his house dirty. and that would show her. but he didn't really want her to get in trouble so really all these scenarios just weren't going well in his head at all. and then he was distracted from all these thoughts by the sound of knocking on the door.
he scrambled off the couch, tripping over his feet and falling in his excitement, but he quickly picked himself up and dusted off his shirt as he made his way to the door. when he opened it, he was greeted by the face of a pretty little blonde and he felt his mind start to get a little fuzzy but then he remembered that no greg, this is not a man, and he was able to focus again on his brother's words. invite her in for water. no sex. he could do this. however, james didn't say anything about no hugging so as soon as he saw her greg rushed forward and wrapped his arms tight around her, nuzzling into her neck slightly. "you must be this francis person my brother keeps talking about," he said excitedly, rocking her back and forth in his tight embrace. "i knew i should be jealous, james always invites the pretty ones to live here. bless your soul." he gave her one more tight squeeze before pulling away. "i'm greg. COME HAVE SOME WATER." then he pulled her hand and pulled her into the house. mission accomplished.

the sort of person that franny was expecting when she got to the house was the good mannered man that she had been talking on the phone with. franny couldn't help but imagine what he would be like. he sounded so proper on the phone. but also, laid back. he seemed to be very laid back. but he seemed like he was very business, and she could respect that she supposed. the entire time that she made her way towards the home she let her mind wander to what he might be dressed in. maybe he would be in a snazzy suit with his hair slicked back and a toothpick, or maybe, he would look like a construction dude, with a handlebar mustache. or maybe he would be a police officer. before franny knew it though she was imagining this james dressed up as every member of the village people, and though that did cause her to chuckle to herself, she was rather sure that he was not a member of the village people. but if was that would be really fucking cool. but that would also mean that he was really old. and if he was old how did he know how to use the internet. no, he wasn't old. he had told her that much. so he couldn't be part of the village people. no matter how cool that would be.
unless he was part of a village people tribute band.
no, no, that wasn't it either. franny shook her head slightly trying to get her mind to focus. she really didn't need to be going to the door expecting james to be dressed up in some crazy outfit. after all, he sounded pretty normal. not that she really thought that people were normal. she herself seemed pretty normal to people who didn't know her. but then once people got to know her they realized that she was spastic and she bounced off walls and her mind usually worked faster than she was able to keep up with. which was fine. she wondered what it was going to be like living with roommates. she wondered if she would have to have a door on her bedroom. she really didn't like doors when it came down to it. she felt like it caused people to not be as connected as they could be. of course they had talked about things like her having guests and things like that. so far, it seemed like it was going to be a great living situation.
she knew another thing was going to happen before she arrived. she knew that she was going to be meeting his brother. which made her wonder what they were like as brothers. were they all bro like. or were they like the winchesters. or were they at each other's throats all the time. did james protect his little brother from the world? was his little brother taller than him? did they have the same parents. so many questions. so many mysteries. she was curious beyond belief and she just couldn't wait to get there to meet them. it was super exciting. every last bit of it. and she was super excited. and she damn near ran up the stairs when she got to the house. and the house was beautiful and she already felt like it was home. and oh god she was so excited. and she just couldn't contain herself. so when she knocked the door she was sort of bouncing on her heels as she waited for whoever was going to answer to answer. and then the door opened.
the person who answered the door was not james. nor was he part of the village people. she could tell by his voice. but he was so damn adorable that she just wanted to keep him forever in her pocket. and fuck if franny wasn't about to hug the boy when he lunged forward and wrapped his arms around her. she more than happily hugged him back and let her fingers play with his soft hair as he spoke. "yeah, but call me franny please. i hate my name. it's so stupid. my parents were trying to torture me by naming me francis i think," she said with a bit of a laugh and rocked back and forth with him not loosening her hold on him. "oh but you're so pretty too. are you sure there's enough room in the house for both of our pretty?" she asked him returning the last squeeze and then smiling widely at him. she could've kissed him right then, she really could've. but no franny, do not kiss your new maybe roommate. her fingers laced with his as he led her into the house and she let out a small laugh. "oh my god greg, you are so amazing. can we be best friends?" she asked, and for the moment, james had totally escaped her mind.
