back in bluewater, the doctors and staff knew him. they knew what a hard worker he was. they knew how dedicated he was, and that he was great at what he did. but here, well, there was still a need to prove himself to his new boss, the new staff. he was the odd man out and he knew that feeling all too well and hated it even more. first off, there really weren't a lot of male pediatric nurses, not that many people gave him a hard time for that. he had a soothing voice and a gentle nature about him that comforted people. but, he was from a different state. all of the people who were working there had been there for a good long while. but there was one last thing that was bothering him about his new job. everyone seemed to be so nose in the air. he wasn't sure if it was because it was a teaching hospital that was connected to yale or what, but either way, he just didn't quite feel right.
his hours were all over the place, and when he came home he was damn near too exhausted to spend time with nadia or will or diana. pedro knew better than any when he wasn't happy with his job. and if there was one thing that he had promised to himself over the years, it was that he would never be in a place where he wasn't happy. he was happy with everything else in his life. his boyfriend, his sister, their apartment. but his job was, and always had been one of the biggest parts of his life. for a good while there it was the only part that he really gave much of a damn about. pedro wasn't so stupid as to think that if he worked at a different hospital the vibes would be different but maybe the people would be different. and that would most certainly be change enough for him to make things easier. all he wanted was to enjoy the work that he was doing. which was a bit hard when people seemed to have their noses in the air.
first thing was first, though, he needed to talk to will about it. let him know what was up, let him know how he was feeling. then he could go off and find a different place to live. since their getting back together honesty has become a big part of their relationship. it's the way that pedro liked having it, kept everyone from wondering what was going on with the other person. and will was really the last person that he wanted to wonder about.
a light sigh passed his lips as he made his way into his home. judging by the number of keys hanging up nadia was still at work. that was fine enough. "hey will," he called out moving more into the apartment. i know that you find, love, i will possess your heart |

Will had been pretty tired himself of late, in fact, lately he was almost always tired. Much like Pedro he was trying to get used to the new job, and the fact that he had to get to know all the new people again after he'd just very recently gotten used to the ones at their previous living area. He was getting along decently well with most of the faculty though and found he enjoyed himself, however there was a lot of pressure to preform well. The baseball team absolutely needed to win, and in order to help them do so he'd been forced to do some playing himself, show them different tactics, moves, ways to do things as a whole and it hard put a massive strain on the arm he'd injured. He knew he'd been told he should never play again if he wanted to keep his arm in good working condition, but he had no choice, the team had been struggling, which was why the last coach had been replaced, and he wanted to prove that he had it in him to get things rolling and start getting wins.
They'd won their first game since he'd become the coach, but that didn't mean that he was through working, in fact it just put more pressure on them to preform well in the next game. It was hard to balance work and Diane and then Pedro as well. He absolutely loved the fact that they were getting back together and that their relationship was slowly getting to the point of the comfortable level it had been at. Of course he still had a lot of things to prove to Pedro, like the fact that he wasn't going to disappoint him again. Last time it had after all ended rather badly and he didn't want Pedro to feel like he was going to give up on them again. Which of course was why he'd agreed to move here in the first place. He wanted to prove that he'd do whatever it takes to get Pedro's full trust back, it was the one thing he cared most about in his life aside from Diane. Diane's well being came first of all, it was just the way it was going to be.
Today though, he'd had to just go home early. He'd been playing some baseball with the team, showing them tactics and various tips, but once they were done with practice his shoulder had been hurting so bad he'd been unable to sit and do more work. Instead he'd gone back home, picking up Diane at daycare and now she was sleeping in her stroller, just out side in the sun on the balcony. He himself had taken some pretty strong painkillers and was half way dozing off on the couch, his arm laying across his chest, making sure to keep pressure off the shoulder. However, a little while before he knew Pedro was coming home, he'd got up and made a massive dinner, set the table for the two of them and called Nadia, asking her if it'd be okay for her to either go see a friend or something so that he and Pedro could have dinner together tonight. Just the two of them. He'd made them some chicken tikka-masala, with a salad and some rice, and the food smelled absolutely wonderful.
Once the food was done though he'd headed back to the couch, damn his shoulder was just all sorts of messed up today. So when he heard Pedro's voice as the door opened he smiled warmly and pushed himself up into a seated position, making sure he still didn't put much pressure on his shoulder. "Hey!" he called back, sounding very happy that Pedro was home. "How was work?" he asked, he had picked up on the fact that Pedro wasn't happy lately, and part of him was scared shitless when he thought that maybe it was because of him. That maybe, just maybe, Pedro had been happier without him. So it wasn't just that he wanted to be nice that had made him make this romantic dinner for them, but it was also because he planned to ask what was going on, why he was so unhappy since they'd moved here. It really was just sad, and he hated seeing Pedro unhappy. "I made us some dinner, I figured maybe you'd be hungry"

none the less when he walked through the door he tried to get his spirits back up. he wouldn't have to go back into work the next day and he could let himself relax for a few hours. spend time with his family. sleep in until eight. which to most people wasn't sleeping in but to pedro it was like a breath of fresh air to not have to be awake before the birds. he was able to relax, that's what he kept telling himself, even as the majority of his body was tense as he took off his jacket and hung his keys up before walking further into the apartment towards where he heard will's voice coming back his way. the smile on his lips was a soft one, but at least it was there, as he moved closer to the other man wrapping his arms around him and pulling him close.
"it as work," he answered before pressing a soft kiss to his lips and flashing him a small smile. "i'm happy to be home," he tagged on simply pressing their foreheads together and just standing there for a moment finding comfort in being close to the man that he knew he loved. will was the things that brought him back to center, even when he was tired, even when he didn't want to deal with anyone else in the world, he always had will that he could come back to, that he could stand close to and just hold for several moments. it would be a lie to say that he didn't enjoy living with him so much more than he had liked them having their own apartments. it was so much simpler, felt so much better.
he finally released him and gave him a bit of a weak smile. "i'm starving," he told his man before kissing him again and then heading towards the bedroom. "i'm going to go change into normal people clothes, i'll be right back out," he informed will before going back to their bedroom and changing into a pair of pajama pants and a t-shirt and then walking back into the main part of the house. it wasn't long before his eyes caught the sight of diane and he walked towards the balcony taking her out of her stroller and hugging her close. "hey baby girl. i missed you so much," he cooed pressing a kiss to her forehead and carrying her inside and towards will. for as much as the rest of his life was stressing him out, this was where he could find some peace. and lord knew he was going to revel in it as much as he possibly could. "what's for dinner babe?" he asked after pressing another kiss to will's cheek. i know that you find, love, i will possess your heart |

As he heard Pedro rummage around in the hallway, he got to his feet, knowing Pedro would likely want a hug the moment he stepped into the apartment, and that he wasn't going to deny the guy. If anything he wanted a hug himself, because if there was one thing he really loved in life it was the hugs he got from Pedro, not to mention the kisses. A smile crossed his lips at Pedro entered the room and smiled at him, then proceeded to wrap his arms around him in a hug. It was all he could do not to let out a whimper as the hug put pressure on his shoulder, but he barely managed to keep the smile on his face and forced himself to return the hug just as closely as he was being hugged. It took far less effort to return the kiss though and he almost found himself to be a little disappointed as the kiss ended, but glad that the guy didn't pull away completely.
Smiling he let his uninjured arm gently caress Pedro's lower back as they stood there with their foreheads pressed together. "Well if it's of any help I'm glad to have you home too" he said honestly and stole another quick but loving kiss. He couldn't help but to notice how weak Pedro's smile was when he pulled away though and for a moment fear stabbed at his heart that maybe it had something to do with him. "Good, I'll get the food on the table so it'll be ready when you come back out" he said and headed for the kitchen. Was Pedro unhappy with them? With the fact that they were back together, was this why he was so unhappy lately? Or was it something else? His mind kept pondering on this question as he started getting the rice into a nice bowl, and the tikka masala into a similarly nice bowl, he could do the dishes later and this was supposed to be a nice meal for them, not just a random dinner with the pots and pans on the table.
As he was lighting the candles he heard Pedro come back out and then disappear onto the balcony. Diane who'd been awake was making tiny happy noises as she was carried back into the house, and even awarded Pedro with a giggle as he kissed her forehead. She really was growing quickly and her laugh never failed to place a grin on Will's lips no matter what kind of mood he was in to begin with, and despite the lump of worry in his stomach, this was no different. "I really love her laugh" he commented in such a goofy happy voice. "It never fails to make me smile, actually when she laughs it makes me wanna laugh too" he confessed as Pedro came back to join him in by the dining table. Diane really was his world, and she would always take center stage in his life. "I made you a bottle too Diane, maybe Pedro wants to feed you it before we start eating, then you can play on your blanket while we do" he told her, he didn't speak in the typical way people spoke to babies, just in his normal voice.
"We're having chicken tikka masala" he replied as Pedro asked about what was for dinner. This meal was one of his favorites and if he remembered correctly Pedro liked it as well. As he was getting the rest of the food ready, it was pretty obvious he wasn't using his one arm properly as he avoided carrying anything with that arm and just went several trips to get the remaining things that were needed. Once it was time to open the bottle of wine he'd bought for them, he found himself seriously struggling with the cork, a look of frustration on his face, replaced by a small yelp as the cork finally let loose. He forced a small laugh to hide the yelp. "Well that was one stubborn cork" he said simply, trying to hide his discomfort behind a joke, it wasn't the first time he'd done that in his life. "So... uhm..." he said as he took a seat opposite to Pedro, and looked at the guy closely. "I wanted to ask something." he continued, oh hell he'd never been good with words.Taking a deep breath he finally just blurted out what it was he was worried about. "You're not happy here.. are you?"

"of course it helps," he spoke softly and more than happily returned the kiss that his boyfriend placed on his lips. pedro pressed another quick peck to his lips before he disappeared to get dressed then came back.
he stood there with the beautiful little girl in his arms the smile on his lips so much more pleased than the one that had been there when he'd first gotten home. he bounced the little girl on his hip slightly and let out his own small laugh. "i feel the same way. just brings happiness to your whole world doesn't it?" he spoke before starting to dance with the little girl slightly singing softly in spanish. his attention turned back his boyfriend as he mentioned the bottle and he did that. "i think we can do that," he spoke with a smile on his lips. "though, you know, she's almost a year old now. she can have a bit more. she could even try some of our dinner. she has all of her teeth." his attention went back to the little girl and he pressed another kiss to her forehead. "she is getting to the point where she can eat pretty much anything," he tagged on before moving to put her in her high chair. his attention was focused on the little girl for a few moments before he went to grab her bottle and then one of the dishes made for kids her age and heated it up quickly before placing it in front of her. he put a bib on her then handed her a little spoon.
"mmmmm that sounds wonderful," he said to will before moving so that he could press a quick kiss to his lips before taking a seat at the table. he watched will as he uncorked the bottle and his brows knitted for a moment. that was odd. that wasn't something that will usually struggled with. and for a moment he simply surveyed his boyfriend, wondering if his shoulder was bothering him. he knew will well enough to know that he was a bit too prideful to bring it up and tell him, but that didn't stop him from wondering. he made a point to talk to him about it later. "you got it either way," he said giving him a loving smile. he took a glass from will and took a drink of the wine.
when his words came one of those brows arched in a curious manner and he tilted his head to the side. "you can ask me anything will," he said in soft tones. the words that came from his next caused his teeth to sink into his bottom lip for a moment and he leaned back in his seat running him fingers through his hair and letting out a sigh. "is it that obvious that i'm unhappy, will?" he asked but didn't wait for an answer before he continued. "i'm happy with you. i'm happy with diane. and with nadia. i'm happy when i'm home. but...i don't really like my job. the hospital is great. but the people." he pulled a face and then shrugged. "i was thinking about transferring to a different hospital. one in hartford maybe. i just, i don't think that i mesh with all these silver spoon people, you know?"

A small frown crossed his face as Pedro told him Diane could have proper food now if she wanted to. He should have known that this was the case, but instead he just absolutely failed at being a father and had been feeding her mostly from the bottle still. This was one of the things he was most insecure about in his life, his ability to be a good father to such a little, precious girl. "I should have known that..." he said with a sigh, but then laughed as Diane tried to put a massive spoon full of food into her mouth. It looked very goofy and it ended up getting sauce all over her little baby face. She never failed to make him laugh, or to amaze him for that matter. Mostly he'd just kept giving her the bottle because she liked it, well she probably just liked the fact that she was usually cuddled close while drinking, and it made her all happy and sleepy. "Yeah she really does just lighten up the moment no matter what the mood in the room was before she smiled or laughed or made some of her cute little noises." he said lovingly and moved to place a small kiss to Diane's forehead, which earned him another giggle and made him chuckle in response.
"Yeah, Tikka masala is one of my favorites and one of the things I make best. So I thought it'd be nice if I made us some, I had some extra time when I got home from work this afternoon." he explained as he moved to stand next to Pedro, a glass of wine in his injured arm and wrapping his other arm around Pedro's shoulders. Somehow he just felt the need to be as close to the man as he possibly could, Pedro's obvious unhappiness lately had scared him. There was nothing he ever wanted less than losing him again, and part of him was afraid that this was exactly what he was doing. His arm tightened a little around Pedro's shoulders, making it a sort of one armed hug, as he thought about that, and he leaned down and despite his fears placed a kiss to Pedro's lips. At least he didn't seem to be pulling away from those, or the hugs really. Sure it might not be about them as a couple at all, but that didn't stop a guy from worrying.
Despite trying to keep it from happening a soft sigh of relief left his lips when he realized it wasn't him and Diane that was the problem, it was work. Slowly and very painfully he reached out to place his glass of wine on the table and leaned down to wrap his arms around his boyfriend in a proper hum. "Yeah, it's been kinda obvious, but why didn't you tell me Pedro?" he asked softly. There wasn't any accusation or anything, just worry and love and most of all a wish to help. "Well transferring to another hospital sounds like a good solution then. If you're moving though, we're coming with you, at least... we are if you want us to" he said and smiled a little at his favorite guy in the world. "It's not like I can't get a job as a coach of some sort somewhere else, it's not the most difficult job to manage, especially with my background. People seem to think I can do miracles to their school team's games." he rolled his eyes and chuckled a little, ignoring his shoulder's protest at the hugging he was doing.
"Seriously though, you should have told me, we could have found a solution to it earlier." he said and gently leaned in for a kiss. "I just want you to be happy, and hey for me home is where my Pedro is, so moving's not really a big deal." he said honestly. He'd go anywhere for Pedro now that he had him back. After all he owed the guy the world for what he'd put him through when they were younger, and there was no way he could ever fully make that up to him. At least he could do his very best to make sure Pedro was happy, he himself couldn't do what made him happiest in life anymore, so would devote his time to making sure Pedro was at least happy with his work. It wasn't as though being a coach was a bad job, actually he quite liked it and some of the kids really did have proper talent, but he'd much rather be playing himself, something his shoulder put a very abrupt stop to. Even the small amount he'd done to show the kids some new tricks had fucked him up pretty badly. "It's not like Diane is big enough to be affected much if we move. So we're good to go wherever you want."
