Convinced that neither of them needed him. But the past few days she had started to realize what she they were all missing, they were missing out on a real family. Quinn held Delilah in her arms as she carried her and her teddy bear down the stairs. Quinn looked at the little bear that Delilah clung to. It was her absolute favorite and she took it everywhere with her. It was the same bear that Harley had won for Quinn at Warped tour the first day they met. For some reason Quinn never brought herself to get rid of it. She saved it to give to Delilah as a gift from the father she had originally believed that she would never meet. Yet the bond that Delilah had with the little inanimate object was almost as strong as the bond that she had developed with Harley himself. Quin rested her hand on Delilah's back and rubbed it comfortingly. She looked down at her and smiled. "Guess what, i have a surprise waiting for you down stairs..
|
" Quinn could barely believe what she was about to tell the innocent three year old. Delilah looked up at her mom excitedly " a surprise?! is it a pony?" She asked, hugging her bear. Quinn shook her head. " nope! it's even better than a pony, baby. It's your daddy." Quinn smiled at her daughter as delilah looked at her bear, trying to comprehend the fact that her dad was downstairs and she was finally about to meet him, of course in her innocence she didn't really know. As the two of them reached the bottom of the stairs, Quinn saw Harley standing there watching them. She exchanged a long look and then turned to look at Delilah as del looked up at her. Delilah's eyes got big and questionable as she looked at her mom. " but... but... that's kitty!" Delilah exclaimed, then she looked over at Harley. To think that the man who had played with her in the park and had promised to spend more time with her, and the man who she talked about non-stop... was her dad. Delilah reached out for him to hold her, he was only about a foot or so away from her. She looked up into his eyes with her wide innocent green ones and asked him the simplest question in her existence. " daddy...?" Quinn watched as Delilah processed everything, she then kept her attention on Harley's reaction. She was sure that he would be shocked at the fact that Quinn had told Delilah that he was her dad. But then again Quinn had done a lot of things in the past few days that was shocking to the both of them. Especially kissing him. She smiled at Harley, hopefully he wouldn't freak out about it and leave them both... again. No, that wouldn't happen. Things had changed so much and there was no way that he would leave them again. At least not if he had a choice and she was sure of that. [/div][atrb=width,130]

[cs=2]

the way i move is like a full-on rainstorm and you're a house of cards. i'm the kind of reckless that should send you running, but you kinda know that you won't get far. and you stood there in front of me, just close enough to touch, close enough to hope you couldn't see what i was thinking of. drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain, kiss me on the sidewalk, take away the pain,
'cause i see sparks fly whenever you smile
as they emerged down the large staircase, harley could note that quinn had something to delilah, but he didn't pick up exactly what had come from her mouth. he could tell that it was very surprising to the child, because her eyes widened and exclaimed, but... but... that's kitty! harley figured that quinn had just told her that she had a special visitor and the little girl wasn't expecting harley to be at this hour of the night. hell, he wasn't expecting himself to be at her home at this hour of the night, either. in fact, he wasn't expecting to be visiting her house at all. he assumed that for their next visit, she would be coming to his hotel-apartment, not that he'd be coming to her house. then again, that was when quinn's boyfriend was a territorial asshole. now that harley had taken care of him, he didn't very much have to worry about that, did he? then again, with the way that he had so easily beaten the shit out of kaiden- for example, breaking his nose in one heavy blow- he wouldn't have to worry about kaiden even if he hadn't done what he had done tonight. the point, though? delilah was probably just excited that 'kitty' was there, when she probably was prepared to see him in the next two days- not tonight.
it was when they were completely down the stairs and a foot or two away from harley that his eyes turned from soft and gentle, happy to see his daughter to wide, shocked and obviously bewildered at what the child had just said. she reached out for him and exclaimed again, daddy...? she didn't. even though this was in no way a bad thing, he hadn't really wanted delilah to find out so quickly- especially not when he was scheduled to leave in only a matter of two weeks, especially not when he had no idea of when he would be returning to connecticut, returning to his daughter and quinn. why was this? plain and simple, he didn't want delilah to be sad. even though he had a feeling that delilah would be sad when he left, knowing that he was her father or not, he had an even stronger feeling that delilah would think that harley had left again, never to come back... he didn't want that, because even though he didn't know when he'd come back, he would. it might have been thinking very much ahead, he planned on seeing her a lot throughout tours, even if that meant flying them out to shows or flying out to see them during the two or three day breaks between shows. if it meant that he would be able to see delilah- and quinn- he'd do it.
uh... was all that came out of his mouth at first, because he didn't know what to say. he glanced back and forth, between quinn's bright green eyes and delilah's, almost an exact replica of her mother's. this is a good thing, this is a good thing he had to tell himself to keep from bailing- again. he wasn't good at dealing with things like this. emotions, feelings, the like... they didn't come easy for him. yeah, i'm uh... his voice cracked and he had to pause to fix that. he cleared his voice and started again. i'm daddy. then, reaching out for her, he gently took the child from quinn- she let him of course- and imitated how she had been holding her. this was definitely a picture perfect moment.

Quinn had put Harley's shirt in the wash and managed to get the blood stains out of it. When she walked back down the stairs she saw the most spectacular, picture perfect moment in her life. When she reached the bottom of the stairs she saw Harley, holding Delilah. Holding their baby girl, who was now fast asleep. She walked over to the two of them and smiled at him. "Let's tuck her in on the couch, I can take her to bed later." The two of them walked over to the couch with Delilah and Quinn watched as he gently laid her down on the couch. She stirred just enough to get herself comfortable on the couch. Quinn handed a blanket to Harley and helped him tuck her in. She was so adorable and looked so innocent when she was asleep. Not that she wasn't when she was awake, but for some reason when children slept they looked ten times more innocent. Quinn wanted to just guard her from all the pain and terrible things in the world. But there's only so much that a mother can do to protect her child. Eventually she will venture off and explore the world and learn from her own mistakes. Hopefully she will learn from some of Quinn's and not follow in her footsteps. Although when Quinn originally got pregnant it seemed like the biggest mistake of her life, now a days it was a complete blessing.
Quinn took Harley's hand in her's gently and led the two of them into the kitchen, out of hearing range from the living room so they wouldn't wake up Delilah. She ran her hand through her hair and thought about everything that she had done in the past twenty four hours. Hell, in the past forty five minutes. Quinn turned around and looked everywhere but Harley's eyes. "I'm sorry... i shouldn't have.. uh.. surprised you like that.. we should have talked about telling her before i just sprung it on you.. and..." She had begun to ramble. She was fiddling her thumbs around and continued. ""..I shouldn't have kissed you... i don't know what i was thinking.. after three years i have no right to just assume that you want me.. i mean.. i can see that you want Delilah.. but i shouldn't have assumed that you would want me with her.. i just..." her words trailed off and her mind was spinning. What was she thinking?

after harley had taken delilah out of quinn's arms, she disappeared up the stairs. harley had everything he wanted and more in his arms, but for some reason... his face had twisted into an expression full of longing and sadness when she left. what had suddenly made harley such a softie? what had suddenly made harley so... so obsessed and infatuated with this woman, this woman that he had gotten pregnant and then just... well, left her, bailed on her, abandoned her three years ago? he was holding what he wanted, but, as bad as it was to say, that wasn't enough for harley. even though she was just up the stairs, he wasn't content unless she was next to him. after all, he had come to her in his time of need for a reason, right? not too long had passed before quinn emerged down the stairs again and harley's expression reverted back to soft and gentle, calm and... well, just plain happy, because that's what he was. he was actually happy and not because he was playing music or on a stage, wasted or in bed with the first girl he could find. he was with his daughter and the mother of his daughter. apparently, delilah had fallen asleep in his arms. he hadn't noticed into quinn noted it and suggested that they take her to the couch. he set her down softly and once again, he felt longing and sadness overwhelm his body. he wanted to continue to hold his daughter, even if she was sleeping.
then, he felt quinn take him by the hand. gently, she lead him to the kitchen. harley took one last glance at his daughter sleeping on the couch as he was pulled away into the next room over. just the little things she did, like running her hands through her long blonde hair or the way she composed herself, even the way she rambled made harley see her as something more than just a girl he had gotten pregnant. if he didn't know any better, he'd say he was falling in love with her with every passing minute. then again, who was the say he didn't know better? surely not harley. i'm sorry... i shouldn't have... uh... surprised you like that. we should have talked about telling her before i just sprung it on you... and... i shouldn't have kissed you... i don't know what i was thinking... after three years i have no right to just assume that you want me... i mean... i can see that you want delilah.. but i shouldn't have assumed that you would want me with her... i just... the way she twiddled with her thumbs and kept on talking... it was enough to make him fall in love, alright.
he didn't know what he was thinking this time, but in an instant, he had pushed away from the counter that he was using to support himself, and, on the counter that she was leaning on, put his hands on either side of her. pushing his body close to hers, he kissed her, without thinking. maybe it was to make her stop talking, maybe it was to show her that he did want her- as a friend, a girlfriend, and as the mother of his daughter. he lingered on her lips for several seconds before he pulled away just enough to be able to talk, pressing his forehead on hers lightly. i want you, quinn, every part of you, and i want delilah, he said, placing a kiss on her lips again before pulling away to talk once more. don't apologize.

What if this was all just an act? what if she was letting herself be manipulated again? What if he was just trying to pretend to want her just to leave her again? Quinn wasn't sure of it all, and she definitely wasn't sure of what she was doing. She didn't know what the relationship she had with Harley was anymore because for the past three years the only relationship they had was him sending her checks in the mail from god knows where. And he was leaving in less than two weeks. What was going to happen then? It was going to hurt. And poor Delilah would be missing her father. But then again she had such an imaginative mind she would probably let herself be distracted. Especially with her getting ready to start preschool this upcoming school year. All Quinn knew was that she honestly didn't want to get hurt by anyone ever again. Kaiden was out of the picture completely now, thanks to Harley. It was just all so confusing to her.
And before she had a chance to continue her rambling, before she really had a chance to realize what was happening.. Harley was kissing her. It felt like the one earlier, full of passion and it filled her with hope that maybe things would be okay, maybe he did want to be here for her and maybe she was just psyching herself out and making herself think that nothing would ever happen as a defense mechanism from all the pain that Kaiden put her through. Whatever it was, it made her forget all of her worries. Quinn closed her eyes and kissed him back, letting her hands rest on his shoulders. When he pulled away she let her eyes gaze into his, her expression was soft and her heart was racing. "i want you, quinn, every part of you, and i want delilah, |
" Quinn honestly couldn't believe the words that she was hearing. He wanted her, her and Delilah. The soft kiss that he gave her after those words sealed them into her heart. She looked at him, her eyes getting all watery from happiness. " i never thought i would hear those words from you, Harley.." she wiped away a stray tear and looked at him. " Harley, i.." her body fought to find the words to completely express how she was feeling at this very moment. But only one phrase expressed it enough to show it. " I love you." She kissed him softly, to think that so much could go right in such a short time span amazed Quinn, but she finally had the one thing that her body kept trying to tell her that she was missing. After all these years of pretending that Harley didn't matter and that her and Delilah didn't need him, she finally realized it was the one thing that she always wanted. i never thought i would hear those words from you, harley... she started and as she pulled away, he could see water building up in her eyes. there those tears were again and this time, he was sure they were all from the giddiness and happiness that both of them were obviously feeling in that moment. there was no way that those tears could have been from sadness or pain or any regrets that she might have had. there was no chance that water was welling up in her eyes because she had any doubts or she didn't believe any of the words that came out of his mouth. it was weird to say, but he believed the words that came out of his mouth. he wanted delilah and he wanted quinn. he wanted... well, a family. it might have been a small family and maybe harley would be on the road most of the time, but they'd be a family, nonetheless. then, words started coming out her mouth again and harley had to keep himself from kissing her again. harley, i... she paused, harley left staring intently into her eyes, anxious for what she was trying to say. i love you. and there they were, the words that usually came after a few months of dating, sometimes even a year of dating. words that were precious and shouldn't have just been thrown around like they were nothing. they came out of quinn's mouth but instead of being shocked, harley let his lips drift to her lips to give her another kiss.
hey now, baby, no need to cry. now, he wasn't trying to avoid this statement. in fact, he could have said he felt the same way. maybe that love was always there, underneath all of the dislike and hatred that had formed from harley being away for so long. maybe there was a bond there, a connection that they automatically had by sharing a child, by being parents together. the words that had spilled out of her mouth we're tough to get down or difficult to believe. after about a minute of just kissing her, harley pulled back again. i think i love you too. the reason why he had thrown in the think was because these things didn't come easily for him. while she was a steady relationship kind of girl and obviously didn't sleep around, harley slept around and a lot. he didn't get himself into relationships and when he did, they definitely didn't last longer than a couple of weeks, and throughout the duration of those small relationships, half of the time was spent away from that girlfriend. however, he didn't cheat. there were some things that harley would never do and two of those were cheating and hitting a woman. and i promise... i promise that i won't leave you two again. of course he had to leave again, because touring was his job. his band was how he paid the bills and surely she understood that. surely, she knew that he meant that he wouldn't go without calling them every other hour on the hour or trying to get a plane ride back to connecticut whenever he could. when he said he wouldn't leave, he meant he would never stop being a father, never stop being there, and never stop loving them.
