Divorced. It was such an ugly word. At the young age of twenty-four, Gatsby had already been married and divorced. It wasn’t like she’d gotten married at a ridiculously young age… the blonde had been twenty-two. Of course, she and Fletch had only dated for eight months before he’d proposed. That was dumb, and rash, and looking back it was perfectly easy to see that. But at the time? At the time she’d just been so blinded by love that she’d jumped into it. Gatsby was always jumping into things she was passionate about. Sure it was probably a character flaw, but Gats always had trouble remembering that. Maybe if her father or brother or best friend had tried to step in? Tell her it was too soon? The blonde couldn’t honestly say that she would have listened to them, though. She really valued their opinions, but it was hard to change her mind after she had it set.
So, now she was stuck in New Haven, the city that her ex-husband had moved her to. But she couldn’t just leave her students; they were too important to her, and the job was too good. Of course, kindergarteners had had questions when she went from “Mrs. Simms” to “Ms. Blair.” ’Mrs. Blair, I thought you was already married. How come your name changed again?’ Divorce was a sensitive subject, and not one that was easy to explain. Of course, she had a few kids in class whose parents were divorced, so they got it. But still, the blonde didn’t exactly want to share her dirty laundry with a class full of six year olds. They were precious and she loved them, but they weren’t her confidants. Actually, Gatsby really didn’t have confidants in New Haven. Between being a newlywed and starting a new job, she hadn’t had much time to socialize. Of course, she had her teacher friends, but they weren’t really confidant material.
On this sunny Saturday, Gatsby decided to go to the park. She and Fletcher had spent quite a bit of time there, and she hadn’t really been much since the divorce. But why should she stay away from a spot that she loved just because they went there together? She walked the few blocks from her apartment, and had to admit that it felt good to get out. She needed some fresh air, maybe a bit of human interaction. Entering the park, she looked around, deciding to sit and watch the carousel for a bit. Gatsby had always been a fan of carousels, especially older ones like this. Taking a seat on the bench, she rested her elbows on her knees and her chin on her hands, watching it mosey slowly in a circle.

Dom had had quite the boring day, he'd tidied his apartment, caught up on the daily sports news, watch the game he had missed and recorded on tevo thanks to work. Dom could remember a day when he had loved his job, when the idea of finding new talent and creating young athletes careers exciting, meaningful and fun. But over time he'd lost interest. Not that this would have been a shock to anyone that knew him, Dom lost interest in things easily and quickly, it was the reason he liked to travel so much, the reason he only signed short leases on his apartments and moved around a lot, it was also the reason he was happily single most of the time and the reason no of his relationships survived past the premature age of a month. It wasn't that he was a jerk, he didn't mean to hurt anyone or lead them on but it generally happened, for some reason girls fell for him even when it was so obvious he wasn't looking for anything long term. He was a played and a party boy, he wasn;t made for settling down yet, to his mother chagrin, maybe he would some day, maybe he would grow up and settle down but it didn't seem like it was a day that was coming any time soon.
With all but one of his todo's for the day done his last on jumped onto the sofa next to him and dropped the equipment needed for the final todo on the mans knee before the basset hound started to whine. "Alright alright" Dom grumbled standing up and hooking the leash onto the dogs collar, grabbed a light jacket and headed out and en rout to the park as he did everyday with Doogle. They took the same rout at around the same time each and every day, rain or shine and had done for the 2 years since Dom had got him.
The man was just absentmindedly walking that same rout as usual when a familiar face caught the corner of his eye. Doogle was a little further on but he would soon stop when he realized his owner wasn't following anymore. Instead Dom took a change of direction crossed the path and dropped himself into the empty space next to the woman sat watching the carousel spinning around and around "Hey ho" was all he said glancing down the way he been headed to see Doogle looking confused and a little lost until he spotted Dom and came bounding over on his stumpy legs, big ears flopping up and down.
