for a good little mormon boy, it was awfully easy to get the fuck away from isaiah brighton. honestly, with the rule that he couldn't leave his mission companion except to go to the bathroom, caedan had almost expected the dude to start crawling into bed with him at night. to be honest, isaiah probably would if he didn't so adamantly believe that two men lying together was a sin or some shit like that and caedan was waiting for the day his fuck-the-rules, lassez faire attitude rubbed off on the poor kid and he decided that the two men lying together rule could be suspended to uphold the don't leave your mission companion rule and then the pair of them could be sent home on suspicion of being fags. not that caedan would go - no, he liked hartford, liked the family he had in hartford. he'd probably hang around, live with di, the usual if he were ever suspended on his mission. no need to go back to a church he didn't like and who didn't want him right?
but that was all hypothetical. of course that wasn't going to happen because isaiah was as straight-laced as they came but it all went back to his original point of how easy it was to ditch a guy who was hellbent on spending every waking moment with him. it had been too easy to shake him off, too easy to get him to agree that they'd hit different houses that day and that god wasn't going to hate them for being more efficient, right? he had looked up at him with those little puppy eyes and caedan had stared right back and told him he'd meet him outside the center, seven p.m. sharp. and then he had left and surprisingly isaiah hadn't followed. must have finally got fed up with having to chase him all over town or something. which was good for him. because while maybe caedan's plans wouldn't last until seven, he did have a definite mission in mind and it had absolutely nothing to do with the church of jesus christ of latter day saints.
no, it had to do with a beautiful woman by the name of nadia hernandez who had captured his attention within five seconds of talking to her when he and isaiah had visited her apartment in an attempt to convert her to their religion. she had been incredibly warm and open to talking to them even though she was very set in her faith and from the moment caedan laid eyes on her, he was smitten. not only was she incredibly gorgeous (incredibly - he could get lost tracing each curve of her body, outlining her features with kisses, and hell mormon or not, a girl that looked like that was bound to bring up r-rated thoughts) but she had a good, solid head on her shoulders and a good sense of humor. she handled him and isaiah as a pair really well, put up with his sass and even sassed back, and she seemed amused at his not so subtle (to anyone but isaiah anyway) attempts at charming her. she was...captivating. and caedan wasn't going to rest until he had fully explored the possibility that laid within that...erm, possible convert, as he'd tell isaiah later.
so no, his mission was not holy but he could bet a million bucks that it was religious and he didn't feel any qualms at all about showing back up at her house, not even knowing if she was going to be there. the way he saw it? he'd wait. he'd sit there and wait all day for her to open the door or at least to return home because he wasn't going to let this slide. she had sparked something inside of him and he wasn't going to rest until he'd had a taste of her - and maybe that was literal as well as figurative but he'd take either one by that point. one meeting with her and he was done; he knew he had to see her again. and being caedan mason, who always went out not with a fizzle but with a bang, he was not going to rest until she felt the exact same way about him.
his knock on the door was rhythmic, tapping out a pattern that people who knew him would be familiar with before ringing her doorbell once. it was his usual knock - something no one in connecticut was expected to understand except maybe his relatives but something special at least reserved for a special occasion. he prepared himself for rejection, for her not to be home, but he kept a knowing, expectant, even amused smile on his features just in case she was home for her to open the door to see. a real caedan mason smile that he had pretty much trademarked by that point. maybe it wasn't usual to ditch your mission companion to seek out a pretty lady you met once because she charmed you with her complete lack of interest. but hell, caedan mason was anything but usual.

nadia had known when she told pedro and his boyfriend -with child in tow- to move in with her that things were going to be different. she's gotten pretty used to living on her own in the past years. pretty used to being able to wander around her apartment wearing whatever she wanted. being able to come and go without that brother of hers judging her outfit and making sure that she looked decent enough to go into public. pedro was as gay as they came, but even in all the years that they hadn't seen one another, he was still just as protective of his younger sibling. still so willing to be controlling and even demand that he go out with her on the nights that she wanted to go out with friends or something like that to make sure that she was a good girl and she didn't do anything that would shame herself or her family. of course, thank god for will who almost always was able to talk him out of it.
it was strange, even, living with a gay couple. when for almost all her life she had been told how wrong it was. she had been witness the night that pedro had been thrown out the door to never be seen again. nadia knew how her family would feel if she told them that she had reunited with pedro, but, she didn't care. because she loved her brother. and she'd always known that he was one of the best people that she had ever met in her life. so, no matter how much she was sure that he parents wouldn't be happy about it, she had him and will move in. because, she was not god. it was not her place to judge other human beings. it was not her place to say who pedro could love just because of his gender. she knew people who weren't gay, who were far worse people than her brother and his partner. so why should they be so discriminated against? nadia really wasn't sure. she just knew that most of the time, she was happy to have her brother around.
that didn't mean, though, that she didn't enjoy those days when no one else was around. pedro and will were working, diane was off at day care. it left it so that she had her place to herself again. like she'd gotten so used to over the years. some peace and quiet in which she could read a book, sit down, relax. just be alone. it was great. and though nadia knew that she should've gone into work that day because, well, skipping work was never a good thing. she was happy simply to be able to have a little bit of time to herself. and she really didn't want to miss the opportunity to catch up on her soaps and curl up with a good book before everyone got home. now, no matter how much she didn't enjoy a good book, and time to relax, there was something that was a bit more alluring than all of that.
with a quick press of the button to the radio she turned it on and stood up. her body started to move in a skilled manner, hips swaying and rolling. belly dancing, if you will. she had taken classes a few months back after all, and it was a great way to stay in shape. keep that body of hers that she cared so much for in top condition. and really, dancing was the most fun way to do just that. she was well and into the groove of it all when a knock came to her door followed by the chime of a door bell. brows knitted as she turned down the radio and made her way to the door dressed only in a pair of booty shorts and a tank top. her hair was pulled back into a ponytail and glasses sat on the bridge of her nose. the person that appeared before her as she opened the door, though, was not someone that she had expected. "caedan, right?" she asked leaning against the door slightly. "can i help you?"

caedan knew he wasn't what you would call a really...well, "good" mormon. he wasn't isaiah that much was certain, who he was pretty sure cried when he found caedan drinking caffeinated tea one morning. okay maybe not that extreme but he did remember a nice lecture about the substances he put into his body because his body was a temple and temples are sacred and blah blah blah random mumbo jumbo. caedan just hadn't been raised in an orthodox home the way that his mission companion had been - hell, caedan didn't even pay attention to the rules of when someone was supposed to go on their mission, going on his several years later than he was technically allowed because of "problems" being such an unorthodox mormon had brought him. he was pretty sure that was why the center had stuck him with isaiah. in hopes of fixing him.
but hell, it was going to be hard to find a moment when caedan actually gave a flying fuck. honestly? he knew god loved him. he still prayed and repented for his sins and talked to god when he needed guidance and read the bible (though admittedly not the book of mormon which was bound to cause some problems). he was still a good guy. he wasn't going off on sinful rampages or anything and so what if he had a little bit of interest in someone of the female persuasion? he was male - shit if god had a gender he was probably male too considering how naked he made eve and the fact that he was all "eve came from adam", though that was a reasonable argument for him being a woman because of the whole "men and women are a part of each other" blah blah bullshit. and even then he figured that was probably lost in translation because hey, gay people existed.
but that was beside the point. the point was that caedan was not the most straight-laced mormon around and he knew it. and he knew the center would have a fucking fit if they knew he was ditching isaiah to go see a pretty lady and attempt to get her to agree to go on a date with him. but hey, even mormons need to have fun every now and again and while caedan was sure that isaiah would make an excellent date to a dinner-and-movie type deal due to his attentive nature, he wasn't exactly his type. pretty, sure, but male and when it came down to it the only male body that caedan could actually appreciate was his own. he would much rather have nadia there with him even if just to bask in the fact that he'd managed to get her company outside of her apartment which was enough for him to think he could manage to get her out to a few dates. he just needed to light the match to start the fire.
but it seemed that nadia was doing some match lighting of her own as caedan drank in her appearance when she finally arrived at the door. she looked so...well not just hot because he had a feeling covered in garbage she would still be hot but just...comfortable. in her own skin. in her own home. she was a knockout when she was dressed for company but dressed in clothes that revealed enough of that dark skin to drive his mind to places they shouldn't go when he needed to be a functional member of society with her hair pulled back and glasses perched so perfectly on her nose, she was stunning. the casual way she leaned against the doorframe, unashamed just caused his tongue to make an appearance at the corner of his mouth as he smiled and let out a small chuckle. "think you already have," he replied lamely, looking up at her with as much admiration as he had been hoarding since they first met. "actually, i was just hoping to be graced by your presence again in my downtime." his grin widened. "you made...quite the impression."
