MATT & CINDY; Matt and Cindy Preston grew up in Hollywood. Matt came from two neurosurgeon parents and Cindy came from a single mother who owned a popular clothing boutique. Neither was raised with high morals, but both had extremely high standards. They were high school sweethearts who much to their parents chagrin had a shot gun wedding weeks after graduation because Cindy was pregnant. The two bought a comfortable apartment (paid for by their parents, of course), and were good to go, ready for adult hood. Cindy started working at her mom’s store, and Matt trained to be an agent. Nine months later, they had a daughter, whom they named Journey Alexandra Preston. When she was born, Matt and Cindy decided that she was born to be an actress.
JOURNEY, THE EARLY YEARS; Journey stared in her first commercial at six months old, and it all went up hill from there. She stared in a long running sitcom from age’s five to eleven. Journey was America’s little sweetheart, easily the most famous child star of her time. Her father was her agent (naturally), and she was a joy to work with. While working on the sitcom, she did one movie where Journey played a small role, and several commercials. She was even the face of a child’s clothing line.
JOURNEY, THE TEENAGE YEARS; As Journey got old, she became less interested in acting and more rebellious. After the sitcom ended, her career was focused more on film than TV, and she starred in block buster after block buster. Things really started to change around the time she turned 15. Journey decided that she didn’t want to act. She started skipping shooting days and would come to set hung over (yup, her drinking started that young.) Directors put up with it because she was such a big name, but jobs became harder to get. Which was fine with Journey, but it strained her relationship with her parents. Her relationship with her parents had never been the nurturing kind. They’re amount of pride and love shown towards Journey directly correlated with her success.
JOURNEY AT EIGHTEEN; But the time she was eighteen, she’d pretty much ruined her career. She got random one show appearances here and there, a few modeling jobs, but wasn’t near as popular in the industry as she’d once been. And her parents weren’t having it. They fought with Journey even more, and she moved out of their house. She stayed with guys, girls, anyone she could bum a few days off of before moving on.
THE ABUSE; Matt had a brother, Gregory. He and his brother were always close, and Greg always seemed to be over at their house. Around the time Journey turned thirteen, the molestation began. Journey wanted to tell someone, but didn’t know how. So, she kept her mouth shut. This continued until she left her house at eighteen.
ALLY; At age twenty, Journey decided she’d had enough of California. She decided to drift for a while, go from city to city, state to state, until she found someplace she liked enough to call home. And hey, if she never found that place, then she’d just keep drifting. And that’s when she stopped going by Journey (who the hell named their kid that, anyway?), and went by Ally instead, a nickname taken from her middle name Alexandra. She drifted for a couple of years before finally landing in New Haven. Ally isn’t sure if this is the city for her or not, but it’s worth settling down a bit for.
