It had been one of those days where waking up on his own had been easy. Well as easy as waking up by nightmares got. Looking at the time he'd noticed that it was about eight am and that he should be at school in an hour, it was cool though, he wasn't feeling much in a hurry. Getting up he took a somewhat long shower, at least what he considered long and then just combed through his hair with his fingers and stepped into his usual clothes, today they consisted of a pair of pants, a t-shirt and a deep blue sweater. Shaving wasn't needed a lot for him yet, it wasn't as though he had very heavy growth when it came to a beard and it was probably due to the fact that he was still pretty young. Grabbing an apple, he made sure his camera was as always around his neck and his bag was filled with the books he'd need, then he headed out.
It wasn't as though he didn't have plenty of time, so he stopped to take a picture here and there, but his mind wasn't really into it today. The nightmare had shaken him a little and his mind was on his mom, dad and little sister. His usually bright and smiling face was dark and unhappy as he headed to school. Classes went by as a bit of a blur, he couldn't remember much of what had been said by the end of each class, his mind was still pre-occupied about other things, however whenever he talked to people the smile was back on his face, though maybe a bit forced. The images of the nightmare kept bugging him all day, and it was just very unpleasant all together. It was in the middle of the last class for the day when he decided that he wanted to go by the hospital with some flowers and maybe just sit and talk to his mom for a while. Sure they said she couldn't hear him, but he didn't care, he'd read about people who'd been in a coma for years and heard everything people said to them.
So once he was finished with school for the day, he continued to the hospital and found his mom's room, of course it wasn't hard to find, she'd been in there for years. "Hi mom..." he said quietly and took a seat next to her bed, grabbing her hand. She really just looked like she was sleeping, but of course that wasn't the case. "I brought you some new flowers and I thought maybe you wanted to hear what's going on in the world?" he added and started unfolding the newspaper so he could read it for her. He spent a few hours there, reading and talking and telling her about how school was going and that he'd gotten into yale for photography and all that fun stuff. After a while though, being in there just got too depressive, and he couldn't help himself but to want to get out. Leaning down he placed a kiss on her cheek. "I'll see you later mom." he said before disappearing out the door.
By the time he got home it was all he could do not to let tears spill down his cheeks. "I'm back" he called out, trying seriously hard to sound perfectly fine. "I'm just gonna go study in my room" he added, hoping that she wouldn't see though it and hear that something was off, but of course she would, they'd been there with each other as a tiny family for years and it wasn't as though he could really hide from Rory. He quickly stepped into his room, leaving the door slightly ajar as always, and pulled out a book, as he sat down by his desk and stared at the open page. It wasn't as though he really wanted to study, but he just tried to make it look like he was so maybe he could avoid worrying Rory about all this stuff. She'd told him a while ago that he shouldn't go to the hospital alone, he always ended up so upset when he did, but sometimes he just felt the need to do so anyway.
