HISTORY: Ryder was defiantly dealt the short straw in life. Born to a drug addict mother (supposedly) with an unknown father he was thrown into the system a day after he was born. Usually that wouldn't have been such a problem, everyone knows that people always want to adopt young baby's, trouble was, Ryder was born with a heart problem that meant he was in and out of hospital most of his child life, it also meant all prospective adopters were put off by the fact he had a potentially life threatening problem. After uncountable operations and 90% of his time being spent in a hospital bed, modern medicine finally fixed Ryder's problem at the over-ripe age of 11 and without much chance of ever finding a family, 11 was too old for most families but Ryder really didn't help his chances by the way he acted, a life of being stuck in a hospital with no loved ones had made him unsocial, angry and just generally reserved. He caused trouble in the orphanage on a regular basis and constantly ran away, never attended school and got into fights with the other kids. Potential Adoptive parents could smell that he was trouble from a mile off and stayed that far away. The only out let the young kid had was music, one of the nurses he'd been with pretty much his whole life had bought him a guitar the day he was due to leave for the last time and he fell in love with music right then and there.
Years went by with little to no interest in Ryder, when he turned 14, he was turfed into a foster home with one of the other kids from his orphanage, at first it had seemed like a good thing, every kid wanted out of the hell hole, even if it wasn't pirminant. That was until they actually went. No one ever talked about it which meant Ryder and Shiloh had such a shock when they moved in with the McGuinnese's. It only took a week for the problems to start for the two kids, Mr. McGuinness was a drunk, and a mean one, he would come home and lay into the kids for no reason but because he wanted to, it was like it was for sport. Ryder was the oldest and did what he could to keep Shiloh from getting it by taking the brunt of the mans anger, he lost count of how many times he was in and out of hospital, but unlike when he was a kid, it was for broken bones not a broken heart. The worst of it was, social services never even batted an eyelid, they just read the blatent lies about falling down stairs or an accident while playing soccer and shrugged it off. Even when the old man disappeared for days on end, his darling wife kept up the terror for her foster children with locks on every door she didn't allow them out of their rooms until her husband returned. It was 2 years of hell before Ryder appealed to get out of there and be released from care to take care of himself. It broke his heart leaving his younger friend behind but he couldn't have lasted another 2 years, he probably would have ended up dead if he had.
From the age of 16, Ryder moved from job to job, living off what little he earned and the money the government gave him for living with a little bit of extra cash coming from the odd gig here and there in local bars and busking, most of which went on drugs, mostly weed but he was partial to a bit of cocaine every now and again. His little crappy apartment was dingy and barely big enough to swing a cat it but it was better than anywhere he had lived before. Once he hit 18, he was out of there, saved all of the money he could up for a one way train ticket to the first place that was on its way out in the states. Since then he hasn't looked back, he found work where he could but couldn't be civil enough with any of the managers to keep one. It wasn't long before he found a new, slightly more lucrative 'career'. Already being in with that circle of people, it wasn't hard to get a place in the market, drug dealers seemed to be in short supply in his area so his 'business' took off relatively quickly. Along side his dealing, Ryder has done what he could to get a 'real' job but has yet to keep one even at the age of twenty-six. He also started up a band the year after he came to the states, they've had some interest from some record labels but have all turned them down due to Ryder's attitude and lack of dedication and reliability. He has a talent but not the drive to get anywhere with it.

PERSONALITY:
It quite obvious that Ryder is a troubled guy and it's not something he can hide because pretty much everything about him screams is, even looking at his face you can see it in his eyes. But the biggest give aways are in his personality. There's the fact that he's so guarded, he never tells anyone about anything personal, if he's ever asked about his past he gives vague answers and changed the subject, he doesn't let people in and doesn't really express any emotions other than anger, that one he has down to a tee and it doesn't take a lot to get it out of him either, he has a short and incredibly flammable fuse and he lashes out more with his fists than his words.
Words aren't something you get a lot of from Ryder, he's more of the action kind of guy, doesn't talk unless he needs to most of the time, he prefers to get what he has to say off his chest by singing, he gets it down on paper and hides it behind a melody, its the only time he ever shows he has another side and, as his band mates say, the only proof he's capable of any kind of emotion at all. Even when he is with a girl he doesn't tend to get his feelings caught up in things and when things get complicated he usually runs the other way.
Now Ryder has a lot of talent, he's a good song writer, guitarist and lead singer but he's far too busy with his bad boy lifestyle to make much of himself. He wants a quick fix in every aspect and would probably jump on anything to get him to where he wants to be in music, he'd use people, steal, sleep with and so much more as long as it was minimal effort. He can never be bothered turning up for practices half of the time and when he does he's in no fit start to be playing, its the same for gigs, he more than often turns up drunk and high out of his mind. He's pushy and selfish and genuinely doesn't care about pretty much anyone.
