Dostya could not possibly be happier; here she was, tramping about in a field, rain pouring down, literally running off her trenchcoat, mud squelching beneath her feet, jodhpurs still unaccountably spotless, shirt hidden underneath the coat and a rifle in her hands. Her backpack was sadly empty, apart from about two hundred rounds of .356 ammunition, and despite all outward appearances she was out here for academic purposes. While she was having great fun, trying to find somewhere decent to stop and track a bird moving across the sky. Moving around in his cage was Alexandr, the eagle, just as eager to bring something down as she was. Eventually, she placed the cage down, and drew from inside her coat the customary falconer's glove, a thick, shortened version of the normal instrument, and opened the cage. Almost instantly, Alexandr shot out like a bullet, circling around twice before coming to rest on his mistress' hand, cawing and jerking his head around, following movements far too small for Dostya to see.
Laying a foot on the cage, Dostya stared down a pair of binoculars, looking towards a small copse of trees, and she was absolutely sure that she had found something when a squelchy noise behind her signalled that her partner had fallen over. Dropping the binoculars into a pocket, she turned, and Alexandr squawked with disapproval as she ran over - Scott was probably not going to be too happy, knowing what his back was like, and as she reached out a hand to the gravity-stricken student , yanking him up from the dirt. Doubtless he was in crippling pain, and as she helped get him to his feet, Dostya knew she shouldn't laugh, but seeing him with his face covered in mud was far too funny for words, and she burst into silent laughter, struggling to keep her jaws from unhinging. Wiping as large a mass of mud as she could from his eyes without Alexandr abandoning the glove. Once she had finished laughing at the poor lad's pain, she vanished a hand into her pocket and started spelling out a message on her phone before handing it over.
Sorry. If it make you feel better, you get to choose first specimen we kill.
