until i fall asleep and you are with me the day was wednesday, and the time was four pm. lui had just finished work at the hospital. his place of work varied depending on the situation, but his employer was the hospital. sometime he'd be in school talking to kids, sometimes he'd be in the hospital talking to kids. occasionally he'd go to other places such as their homes or an alternate base, but that was on rare occasions. today he'd had to talk to a thirteen-year-old client that suffered severe depression. it really was difficult listening to all of her story, but he understood that it must be much harder for her having to go through it. it was a wonder he wasn't suffering from depression given that he was surrounded by it constantly. never did he get a case of 'this girl suffers from extreme happiness'.
when his shift was over and he'd done all of the paperwork that went with all of his cases - notes, analysis, conclusions, potential therapies etc - he sat in his car and checked his phone. he'd got a text from libby saying she wouldn't be home when he got back from work. he liked to know when she wouldn't be there. she always told him, and he always forgot, so that was probably why she'd started texting him these reminders. he was a little disappointed. he wasn't exactly in the best mood in the world, and he hated being home alone doing nothing.
he decided he'd go do some shopping, since there'd be nothing better to do. instead of turning left for home, he turned right for the shops. he picked up the usual things - cheese, cake, bacon... all the essentials. it didn't take him very long, much to his disappointment. he walked around other shops for a while, looking in the windows for no particular reason. he didn't actually go into any of the shops, until something caught his eye. it was a jewelry shop. he was feeling upset, so he decided to go inside. perhaps he could pick up something nice to give to libby to cheer himself up.
"hello, can i help?" asked a man almost as soon as he entered. why did they ask so soon? he just wanted to browse for a while, and then he'd need the help. what help could you even get in a store like this? it's not a computer or phone shop - it seems pretty simple.
"i was just looking for something for my wife," he said, and turned to continue searching, hoping that the man would understand he didn't want help. unfortunately, he didn't seem to understand that lui wasn't in the mood for chatting to a shop assistant right then. the only thing that stopped him from snapping was the fact he wasn't usually like that, and the fact he knew the guy was just doing his job.
in the end, he came out with a bracelet with little emeralds on it. green was his favourite color, so he'd like it on her. hopefully she felt the same. you couldn't go wrong with a bracelet, could you? the assistant had said she'd probably like it, so he decided to take his word for it.
he returned home quickly, mentally kicking himself because he remembered he'd bought ice cream that would almost definitely have melted in the time he'd spent talking to the assistant. when he got inside, libby still hadn't returned. this was probably what it was like for her when he spent all of his days out at work. or maybe she found ways to entertain herself. she's also not nearly as impatient as he is, so it couldn't be as bad.
he put away the groceries, realizing libby wouldn't be too happy since all he'd bought was unhealthy shit and a few passionfruits. who needs a good diet, anyway? he was feeling sentimental, and wanted to pass the time, so he wrapped up the bracelet even though it was already in one of those little boxes. somewhere along the line he concluded that it would be a brilliant idea to make her dinner. it was knocking six at this point, and she wasn't back. he sent her a text asking when she'd return because his impatience really was getting the better of him, but in minutes he'd forgotten he ever sent that text.
he fished some chicken out of the fridge. he really had limited resources for this cooking thing. chicken, bacon, pasta and pesto were all he could find. he didn't even know if you were supposed to put those things together, but they were all good things on their own, so he shoved them into a pan and hoped for the best. things went pretty well other than the fact he put the entire jar of pesto on the pasta, but he hoped she wouldn't notice and dished it out.
before long, he'd got three candles in the middle of their table set out and had turned the light off. he always preferred darkness, and the way the light of the candles moved was nice. he wasn't in the mood for tv or xbox, so he just sat and watched the light. the bracelet he'd bought for her was on a little plate beside her meal. he'd considered putting it under one of those things on a silver platter until he realized he didn't have a silver platter. of course, lui being lui, he'd coloured in a little comic book style splat bubble note with writing in the middle saying 'dinner for sex?' and put it by the gift. she'd see his humor.
finally he heard the sound of libby returning. luckily the food was still warm. he was beginning to think she'd be out all night. at least he'd done something semi-productive with his time while she was gone. he opened the door for her, smiling because he was no longer alone. "bonjour," he said. he was trying to be french, to match the meal he'd just made. it was beyond him to think about the fact pasta was italian, not french. "dinner awaits." he gestured towards the kitchen. "you can't kill me if it tastes bad. it's not my fault." he could have used a cook book... why didn't he? well, it was too late now. "i don't think it'll poison you, but don't hold me to it. i did remember to wash my hands." he held his hands up, grinning.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style, background-color: #423c42;,true][cs=2] & YOU'RE NOT EVEN HUMAN ` YOU'RE JUST A LOVELY IDEA OF ONE WHO I ACCIDENTALLY LOVED AND GAVE EVERYTHING TO BECOME THE GIRL ON THE PIANO BENCH SINGING ALL OF HER TEARS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - away | [atrb=width,240] olivia sighed as she looked around the warehouse. it was already four forty-five and they weren't close to finishing the shoot. she pulled out her phone and scrolled through her recent texts until she found lui's name and their thread. her fingers moved quickly as she typed up a simple text, letting him know she would be home late. she had reminded him in the morning, but she knew how forgetful her husband could be. she clicked back to her home screen and couldn't help but smile at the picture of her and lui at the beach, beaming at the camera. she loved him to death, that much was clear, but sometimes it was hard when they both worked completely opposite jobs and her hours were much more varied in comparison to his.
she was jolted out of her thoughts as a new model was pushed towards her and she looked up, facing a guy of maybe twenty years old, half-dressed. she simply chuckled to herself and slipped her phone in her pocket. she was thankful she was married because she never had to worry about all these guys around her twenty-four seven, well that and she was extremely loyal to her husband. libby had always liked working with people, but these photoshoots got to be a little much with so many shirtless people walking around, guys and girls alike. she shrugged and pushed him into a chair, starting to work on his hair. she wanted to keep looking at the time, but she knew she had a job to do and she might as well keep doing it as long as she was getting paid for being there. she sent the guy on his way about ten minutes later and plopped herself down in the chair, looking at herself in the mirror.
she had always been indecisive about her hair, but recently, had dyed it blonde just for fun. she had always hoped lui wouldn't mind her spontaneous side, allowing her to change her hair whenever she felt like it. she smiled at the thought of her husband, though she wondered what it must've been like for him to come home to an empty house. now he knew how she felt. it wasn't uncommon for libby to home alone for long periods of time because her work schedule was so flexible. she usually took the dogs for a walk or found plenty of ideas for makeup and such watching youtube videos. that was the garrison household. electronic central, as her mother liked to call it. both of them were attached to their electronics and neither would give them up. after all, libby lived off her computer and wouldn't have been able to survive without it.
she spun in her chair and looked around the room, watching the photoshoot from afar. it wasn't long before she felt her pocket vibrating and her face lit up, seeing lui's name cross her screen. i'll be home in forty minutes. sorry, babe! she always felt bad whenever she wasn't home when he was. at least olivia was used to being home alone, but usually, lui was the one that always had to deal with her being around. she slid her phone away and realized that people were getting ready to start tearing down the shoot, signaling the end of a very long, tiresome day. she quickly began packing up her makeup boxes and hair products, tossing them into a storage bin which she quickly closed and hauled over to her car parked a few yards away. she waved goodbye to those around her and hugged a few models and photographers/staff before closing the trunk of her car.
she set her boxes in the back seat and shut the door before hopping into the driver's seat, waiting so that her friend could get in the passenger seat. that was libby, always giving out rides like she had an unlimited surplus of gas. she always felt bad that not everyone could afford to drive a car so she took it upon herself to try and get everyone home safely and sound. she took off, headed towards her friend's destination, dropping him outside of the local bar. she waved to him and watched him pull his bag out of the car, watching as he adjusted his nametag. that was another thing. libby had never been the type to work two jobs. she never had to. she had always had things provided for her without too much stress and she made enough money to be able to splurge here and there and considered herself well-off.
she headed home and leaned against the steering wheel as she waited at a red light, waiting it would turn green so she could run home to her lovely little family. she pulled her jeep into the driveway and sat for a moment. finally, she was home and could have a relaxing evening and a day off tomorrow that she was so looking forward to. she opened the door and jumped out, pulling the boxes and her purse out behind her. she was always paranoid about letting her things stay in the car incase it melted or someone tried to break in. she bumped the car door shut and began making her way towards the front door, but it was opened for her and she was greeted by her lovely husband, beaming like a kid on christmas morning. one of her dogs came trotting out to greet her and libby couldn't help but smile, watching as he followed her into the house.
she leaned over to plant a kiss on lui's lips, proving that she really did miss him when she was away at work. she set the boxes down by the front door and looked around, though barely saw anything because of how dark it was. she looked towards where he gestured and saw their dining room table lit up with candles and dinner sat on the table awaiting her. she smiled and looked over at him as she heard him joking and she shook her head. "i'm sure your cooking is not that bad," she teased him. she had always been the one to cook and care for their home so it was a nice change to see he had cooked. libby made her way to the table, pulling out the chair in which she usually sat. she settled herself in her seat and grinned, inhaling the smell of dinner.
"well, it smells good, at least," she teased him. she flashed him a smile and looked down at her plate and noticed the little box and note. her eyes scanned it and she let out a laugh, holding it up to him. "really?" she replied sarcastically. she gave him a wink and turned her attention back to the box. "wait, what is this? did i miss an important date?" she asked him inquisitively, holding the box in her hand. she looked up at him and smiled, unsure of what the occasion was. | [atrb=width,140] words ,

until i fall asleep and you are with me "i'm sure your cooking is not that bad." it was only pasta. he didn't think much could go wrong with it. unless he over-cooked or under-cooked the chicken. and the fact he put on way too much pesto. and he was pretty sure he cut the bacon up wrong - were you supposed to cut it into little squares? he'd also probably done something wrong with the pasta. honestly he had no idea how long you were supposed to leave it on for. he'd made pasta before, but he always forgot the timings.
"you'd be surprised how much can go wrong with pasta," he looked over at the table. it was the only light source. he felt as though he'd trip over their carpet on the way back over. the amount of times he'd done that... he should really be questioning why he liked being in the dark so much. surprisingly he made it over without so much as a stumble. it must've been those years of playing volleyball that had given him cat-like reflexes. or so he liked to think.
he sat in the chair opposite olivia, examining her. she was looking down at the food and he was looking at her. it was usually the other way around. maybe it was because he'd made the food and wasn't looking forward to eating it as much. how did she manage to look so perfect after a day of work? he was pretty sure he came home from work with messy hair and a crooked tie. definitely the crooked tie thing; he always fiddled with it when he was doing paperwork, and sometimes when talking to the kids, but he tried not to. he looked down at his shirt and saw that it was slightly crooked, so straightened it a bit.
"well, it smells good, at least," said olivia. he wasn't entirely sure whether that was a compliment or an insult. it did smell good, but that was only because it had bacon in it and he loved bacon. bacon and chicken were the only two meats he would eat. other than that, he considered himself a vegetarian. he wasn't a vegetarian at all, but he liked to think that it counted. the only reason he ate them was because he got worried that he wouldn't get enough protein, and he couldn't resist them. maybe some day he'd be a full vegetarian. he nodded as she asked "really?"
"would i joke about something like that?" the answer was yes, he would, and he was. it was more fun to pretend he wasn't joking. she'd probably decide the meal was too disgusting and that he wasn't worthy of ever touching her again anyway. the only good thing he could see about the plate was that it was green, and he loved the colour green, even though this was that weird leafy, mossy green. bright green obviously took the top mark, but it was glorious in all of its forms.
"wait, what is this? did i miss an important date?" he smiled at her and shook his head, resting his chin in his palm. it probably did look like that. he hardly ever cooked, and buying gifts randomly might be seen as odd. he had his reasons though. it made him happy to see her happy, and he felt like a nice dose of happiness today. she could probably do with one too. he was always off at work and she was alone, so he'd try his best to let her know that he missed her so bad. through the form of gifts seemed the best way to do that right then. she got him most weekends still, except when he was occasionally asked to work saturday mornings and sunday afternoons. that was only when there were urgent cases or when some of the other staff was off.
"nah. can't a guy buy his wife a gift spontaneously? open it," he urged. god, he hoped she liked it. he could always take it back. |
[/b]"plus, i really want sex,"[/b] he joked, and looked down at his dog as it nuzzled his leg. dogs could be so annoying sometimes, but he couldn't help but love it. the moment he saw its face he was awash with love, it was that cute. sort of like when he looked at liv. he scratched behind its ears for a while before pulling his hand away again, hoping the dog would get the message and go away. of course, it didn't, but it lay down quietly with its head on lui's foot. he was too nice to kick it off. it was being good and quiet, after all. "it does kinda feel like a date because i'm wearing a suit. it's only from work though, i swear!" had he seriously just cooked that entire meal in a suit? thank the lord that he hadn't spilt anything on it. "i thought you'd be home," he half-whined. "i got bored. i'm not making a habit out of this. i probably won't be able to anyway because i'll have poisoned us both." finally he ventured a glance down to his plate. he considered taking a bite of it to make sure it didn't taste like puke, but he wanted libby to open her gift first. she was going to think he was an idiot for wrapping up one of those boxes, wasn't she? he was pretty certain on the fact that you weren't supposed to wrap those. "you might wanna go grocery shopping tomorrow, too. i think i did it wrong. or we can just live on a cake-based diet for a week." anyone would think he'd never been shopping before. he had. it just happened that his mind was on other things and all he really wanted to eat was cake and bacon.
