”Shiloh, that isn’t part of your job.” The blond turned around, swiping some bangs from her eyes as she looked up at Mr. Rosen, her manager. ”Oh, I know,” she said with a smile, ”But I thought this throw looked better on this couch.” Restoration Hardware was her place of employment, a home furnishing store with bedding, couches, and lamps, anything you could really want. It was pretty vintage-y, much too overpriced, and the absolute most boring place you could ever work. Rosen got the crinkle in his forehead that he often did when speaking wish Shiloh and snatched the throw off of the couch, putting it back at the foot of one of the beds. ”Stick to helping customers, sweetheart. It’s in your job description.” Shiloh rolled her eyes, mocking him a bit as he walked away from her. She saw a woman in her mid-forties looking at a lamp and made her way over. ”Hi, I’m Shiloh, welcome to Restoration Hardware,” she said with cheer. ”Can I help you find anything?” The woman shook her head and muttered ‘no’ before moving on. Shiloh sighed and walked around the store.
The only thing that was keeping Shiloh excited was that her sister, Kerrington, was coming into town. She had six siblings, and her younger brother was her favorite, but Kerrington was a close second. She was currently a stripped back in Vegas where they all grew up, but was moving up to Connecticut just for the simple fact that she was bored with Vegas and needed a change of pace. Plus, she and Shiloh were going to live together since the east coast had proven to be much more expensive. Shiloh warned her that Harford was boring compared to Vegas, but Kerrington wasn’t going to take no for an answer. She already had two jobs set up (one working at Victoria’s Secret during the day, one stripping at a club during the night), and was moving up next week. So, two of the Darling sisters would be reunited once more. Personality wise, Kerr and Shi were most similar. They were both a bit quirky (although Kerrington had always been cooler than Shiloh), easily excited, and all around fun to be around. But while Shiloh had not been a fortunate looking kid growing up, and had only recently blossomed into being somewhat attractive, Kerrington had always been the prettiest girl in school. But hey, you couldn’t have it all, right?
What. Is this day. Going to be over? She thought with a sigh. Shiloh hated it here, she really did. Yes, she had a college degree in advertising, and had moved from Texas where she had an advertising job to Hartford where she had nothing lined up. So honestly, it was her own fault that she was in this situation. But she really, really hated advertising. Why she hadn’t been able to figure that out in college, Shiloh had no idea. Too little too late, and now she was stuck working for uptight Mr. Rosen in a store where trophy wives came to spend money on things they didn’t need. Cool.
