[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #eeeeee, border: #59b1ba 5px solid; width: 400px; height: 500px;] hey there. the name's SHANNON MARIE O'CONNOR! i go by SHANE if you were wondering. also i'll have you know that i am TWENTY-TWO & loving it. oh. you've heard that I'm BISEXUAL? & that I'm from BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS? well the rumors are true for once. well I gotta get going, THE FEDERAL CAFE is calling. see ya'! bee tee dubs, i'm a LOCAL. HISTORY, Shannon Marie O’Connor was born to Jackson and Caitlyn O’Connor just four months after the couple moved from Edinburgh, Scotland to Boston, Massachusetts. The reason for the family’s moves was simple enough; Jackson had joined up with a company of lawyers and they had an opportunity that was perfect for him. This did of course mean that they had to move, which was a sacrifice that Jackson was willing to make. Caitlyn wasn’t all that pleased with the turn of events their life was taking, even being pregnant was a bother for her, but the only other option was to stay in Edinburgh and raise the child on her own. Shannon was born four months later on April fourth and during the start of it Jackson was still at the office, working a pro bono case for a divorced mother, and he rushed over as soon as he possibly could. It wasn’t until after Caitlyn gave birth that she realized she wouldn’t mind too horribly being a mother. The family made a decent amount of money just off of Jackson’s paycheck and so she remained home with Shannon, taking care of her while he was away at work. For the first few years everything was running smoothly and it wasn’t until Jackson got his promotion when Shannon was four that he started spending less and less time at home. The more money he made the less time he spent at home; it took some time to adjust to the new schedule, but Caitlyn tried, mostly because she was worried about what it would do to Shannon if they separated while she was at her age. Two more years passed and Caitlyn found herself pregnant with another child. Part of her hoped that it would convince her husband to be home more often; however there was also part of her that feared it would only push him more towards his work. At six years old Shannon was now an older sister to Anthony O’Connor. Shannon took to him rather quickly, which was odd considering whenever she was around children her own age she had the tendency to ignore them. Shannon wasn’t a very social child while she was growing up; she was more likely to sit alone and read a book than she was to actually go out and play with the other children. This changed a little more as she got older, though there wasn’t a noticeable change until she was in middle school. That was when she made her first real friend. Allison was a girl who was much like Shannon; neither of them particularly liked any of the other kids that they went to school with and they both had tempers that could cause people to quake in their wake. Allison wasn’t the best influence on Shannon and the pair of them got into more trouble and fights than their parents wanted to count. Jackson and Caitlyn tried disallowing their daughter to hang out with the other delinquent, but that only seemed to convince Shannon that her best bet was to sneak out of the house to hang out with her instead. Despite having lived in America her whole life, Shannon has always had a Scottish accent; while light, it was still noticeable, and once in high school this seemed to be the topic of a great many conversations among the other teenagers. Some of them teased her for it, which didn’t ever get a reaction from the teenager, and others thought that it was the coolest thing. She made a few more friends while in high school, but Allison was always by her side no matter what and the pair of them were practically inseparable. Throughout all of it Shannon still managed to be the older sister to Anthony; whenever he wanted to play with her or hang out then she would do it, no matter what it was, and they were always very close to each other. When she was sixteen she noticed that her parents were starting to argue quite a bit more than normal and within a year they had separated and were living in two different places. Shannon lived with her mother out of her own free will while Jackson got custody of her brother. The time that she was able to spend with her brother had been limited now and she only saw him over the weekends when she went over to babysit him while Jackson worked. Things between her and Allison seemed to be taking a downturn too; they had tried the dating scene for a while with each other but it only served to ruin their relationship. At eighteen Shannon graduated and moved to New Haven, Connecticut where she started going to school to get her business degree. As it turned out, however, that wasn’t going to happen. The courts determined that Jackson was unfit to raise Anthony after he had been left alone and accidently lit the house on fire while trying to start the fireplace. He was sent to live with his mother, but it was only a week later when she was in a fatal car accident. Anthony had been in the backseat and had been saved from serious injury because the other car had slammed into the front driver’s side of the car. With no other family living in the States, Anthony was sent to live with Shannon. She was only working part time and barely making enough to support herself in her apartment, but after her fifteen year old brother came to live with her she dropped out of college and started working full time. A year later and things have seemingly settled and she’s hoping to start going back to school sometime soon. PERSONALITY, CHARISMATIC, Shane, when she’s not in a pissed off mood, has the kind of personality that seems to draw people to her. Despite her general hate of people, she’s easy to get along with and she’s not going to bite your head off if you catch her in the right mood and don’t attempt to push her buttons. She’s very outgoing and when she’s going out to a club or a bar then she’s usually purposely trying to surround herself with people. Shane doesn’t have a problem talking to people she doesn’t know, in fact she’s quite good at it, and while she might not make friends she makes plenty of connections that she can use later on. FLIRTATIOUS, She’s flirtatious almost to a fault; if you’re hot then you can pretty much bet that she’s going to flirt with you, though this isn’t to say that she’s going to make a pass; Shane usually leaves that for the other person. Due to the fact that she’s a natural flirt there are certain actions and speech patterns that Shane follows pretty much all of the time unless there’s something really serious going down…in layman’s terms? She doesn’t even have to like you and one can find evidence of her light flirting. When Shane starts to actually think about what she’s doing while flirting then things have the tendency to swing her way. CONFIDENT/EGOTISTICAL, Shane really is one of the most egotistical people that you may ever meet. Give her a compliment (or something that she perceives as a compliment) and she’s more likely to respond with “I know” rather than “thank you.” One can’t really say that she’s overconfident simply because Shane does know her limits, but she’s like a daredevil…she likes to push her limits to see if she can accomplish something new. Her pride and her ego don’t particularly allow Shane to ask for help from people since she’s always insisting that she can get it done on her own, and if you ask if she needs help then she’s going to tell you no. If you’re really interested in helping it’s better to start without asking and just hope she doesn’t punch you in the mouth for your efforts. PROTECTIVE, Shane is very protective of her friends and her brother, and lord help you if you decide to mess either one of them because she will get you back. She puts her friends before herself, making sure they’re safe, and if it means that she’s going to get herself hurt then so be it. Being as determined as she is, nothing will stop her from defending them or getting revenge on someone who’s wronged them. Of course her friends and brother aren’t the only things that she’s protective of; there’s her dog, a number of other items, and her pride. APATHETIC, Yeah…Shane doesn’t give a shit about your sob story. A lot of people seem to think that if you share a pathetic enough story then you’ll get sympathy, and while this is true for some, Shane will just look at you with “and your point is” and probably say something along the lines of “wah, get over it” …or something close. She doesn’t like sympathy, giving it or receiving it, and if you expect some then you’ll be disappointed. Shane is…almost…emotionless and she doesn’t even try to feel for a person and even her friends are barely an exception to this. LIKES, Evenings, alcohol, loud music, rock music and techno music, mint gum, caffeine in nearly any form, running/jogging, flirting, video games, reading, history, shoes, clothes, getting into fights, winning, chocolate, early mornings, coffee (yes, it gets its own like), guys with muscle, guys that are taller than her, girls who are the same height or slightly shorter, scars, tattoos, cherries, strawberries, coconut smells, big dogs DISLIKES, Drinking water (it doesn’t taste like anything!), swimming (she’s never been any good at it), country music (twanging noise? Really?), pain, cartoons, pushy people, cats, birds, blonde jokes, people without manners, people who can’t stand their ground, people who hate their abilities, people in general, stupid questions, tea, her father and step mom STRENGTHS, Independent, charismatic, outgoing, active, confident, protective, loyal, secret keeper, fighting, speed, agile WEAKNESSES, Partying, apathetic, bluntly honest, drinks too much caffeine, alcoholic, her memory, her friend(s), her brother, her lack of anger control QUIRKS, Hums or sings when she’s focusing on something, runs her hand through her hair, plays with her industrial piercing, chews on the pad of her thumb, flicks her lighter open and close, cracks her knuckles, taps her fingers on her legs, paces back and forth, fiddles with the corner of a page when she’s reading, plays with her bottom lip APPEARANCE, TATTOOS&&PIERCINGS, Shane has a total of six ear piercings and refuses to get them placed anywhere else on her body. In her right ear her lobe is pierced twice and her cartilage is pierced once. In her left ear she has the same two lobe piercings while an industrial can be found in her cartilage. As for tattoos, well Shane has a few. On her hip is a small, black and white rose (click) that she got when she was fourteen thanks to a friend who had just gotten his own tattoo gun set. On her left wrist she has a decorated infinity symbol (click) that wraps around her wrist and covers the barcode tattoo. Her entire right side is covered in a black and white rose and vine tattoo (click). STYLE, Shane's hair is naturally curly and because of this she usually takes the time to straighten it in the mornings so that she can leave it down. However, in times of laziness or if she's in a rush to get out of the house then quite often she won't take the time to straighten her hair and will instead pull it into a ponytail, occasionally wearing a hat to hide the frizziness that ensues. Make up isn't something that Shane wears a lot of, though she wears some and only around her eyes. She places black eyeliner all the way around, highlighting her eyes and making the color stand out a decent amount and then follows that up with a shade of gray, giving her a smoky look. Her ears on both sides are pierced, two in each lobe, a cartridge piercing in one and an industrial in the other. Shane refuses to go out without wearing an earring in each partly because she thinks it looks weird and also because the cartridge and industrial piercings will both close if she goes without. Fashion isn't necessarilly something that Shane actually pays attention to, but she does like to look as good as she can if she's going out. She tends to stray away from skirts or dresses if she can help it and will instead wear a pair of jeans, either skinny or boot cut, and she loves heels. Occasionally she'll wear a pair of tennis shoes, but for the most one can find Shane in boots or heels. Her shirts are always form-fitting and they don't consist of bright, eye catching colors or goofy graphics that don't make any sense. During the colder months she'll wear hoodies or jackets, though due to her hate of thick coats one will never see her in them. In the privacy of her own apartment then one can find Becca in a pair of sweats or pajama bottoms and a two sizes too big shirt or something else that just equals "casual". THE ROLEPLAYER, Hey there! My name is Maria and I am twenty years old (yeah, ancient right?! Just kidding). I’ve been role playing for seven years, and coming up in February it will be eight years, which makes me feel rather old if I think about it. I use an overabundance of smilies and “lol” in my OOC posts and I regret absolutely nothing! My posts average around four hundred to six hundred words, but I have those random moments where I get this muse explosion and leave you reading up to a thousand words. Anyway, since I plan on making an introduction thread I’ll keep this short. I play guys and girls and am a bit of a character whore, so you can bet your ass you’ll see more of my characters floating around here soon. Also, if you need a wanted ad hit me up because I’m relatively good at filling those, I just suck at checking up on the wanted ad board xD |
